Shared 3 Hour Sunset Cruise from Gig Harbor on Puget Sound

Description
This cruise takes you through the heart of Puget Sound. It is the only public sunset cruise on Puget Sound with this extended duration and distance traveled, nearly 30 miles, round trip. Our cruise is available to individual travelers rather than groups only. Our vessel, "RIVIERA" is a restored, USCG certified, classic Northwest built charter boat. She and her captain and crew are steeped in Puget Sound legacy and experience. This is a smooth-water cruise. Wildlife ranges from seagulls to Bald Eagles, seals and sea lions. Can't miss Mt. Rainier for hours and the Olympic Mountain range unimpeded except for some clouds. You can bring-your-own snacks and drinks, no alcohol please. This is an interactive trip where we candidly and casually interpret our surroundings. There is plenty of time on this cruise where you are left to enjoy the cruise without interruption. We will talk with you and answer your questions along the way. (Senior Age is 62. Tour is recommended for ages 10 and above.)

Itinerary
We cruise through quaint Gig Harbor at the beginning of our tour. This is where we begin and end our tour so you can come to town early or stay later or overnight to enjoy our beautiful and famous community.
Famous, storied twin bridges where the first bridge opened and fell down in the same year, 1940!
Exclusive, residential island with rich history in native and pioneer times. We will cruise under the Fox Island Bridge twice with and against the surging currents of Hale's Passage. We continue into Carr Inlet and cruise the shores with expensive homes on intimate bays before turning for the return trip to Gig Harbor.
We cruise the West end of the storied pioneer City of Tacoma, where British and American explorers first met Native Americans of the Salish Sea tribes. Tacoma, WA site of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge was originally established with a mill in 1850, became a lumber boom town by the turn of the century 1900. The earliest non-native explorers were George Vancouver and Peter Puget on the same ship the "DISCOVERY" in 1792!
Pass by historic Pont Defiance Park. A beautiful, old-growth forest. We see bald eagles and harbor seals galore.

In the words of our young son- “This boat is nice, friendly & so cool.” We had a wonderful experience. Saw more wild life than on our week long Alaska cruise! Highly recommend!
Captain was very knowledgeable about the area and history. Very engaging with everybody. The boat is nice and roomy. Definitely recommend you do this to see the area.
Thank you Donna for your review!
We live in the area and thought a sunset cruise in our “backyard” would be a fun thing to do on our anniversary. We had a great time: the captain very adeptly chased the sunset views and although not marketed as a wildlife tour, we saw eagles, porpoises and harbor seals. He filled us in on local history, some of which was new to us even though we’ve lived here our whole lives. The crew was quick to offer a blanket when the wind on the water got a bit chilly and all were fun and professional. I highly recommend this!
Thank you for your detailed review!
Great trip, saw eagles and some seals, lots of other birds as well. Sunset was great, tour operators were great.
Thank you Jenny, great to have you on board!
It was so relaxing and refreshing. The crew was very friendly and considerate. They even provided us with blankets as it got chilly towards the end of the cruise.
Perfect Daniel. Thank you for your review and for being on the cruise.
The experience was memorable, the captain was funny, engaging, and very knowledgeable about the local area. Having grown up in this area, it sure is interesting being able to view the land from the water vs viewing the water from the land day in and day out. I learned things I never knew about the local area and spent a magical and memorable three hours with my family. 🙏🏻
Thank you much for your review! We are glad you enjoyed your cruise!
Definitely worth it! The views were breathtaking, to say the least. The Captain and the girl working on board, were very knowledgeable and extra attentive. I would recommend this to all.
Thank you so much for your review Steven. We love for you to have a good time!
We had an amazing time! Captain Tom and Chloe were the best. He is a local who knows everything about the area and its history. They treated us like family and it was so memorable!
Thank you so much Tim! We had a great time too!
We live in Gig harbor and I have enjoyed this cruise twice now once when family from Tennessee was visiting and most recently when my son from San Diego and his family were here.
Maureen, Thank you so much for coming with your family from out of town!
Fun experience. We had excellent weather that enabled beautiful views. Captain Tom was an excellent navigator, narrator and story teller.
Thank you Dave! We appreciate your kind review!
