I am a Shakespeare fan and knew I’d learn and enjoy, but my friends also in our group said, even days later, how much they enjoyed this tour. Our guide was Clive. We learned a lot about the historical Globe theater and how theater reflected the times and the various socioeconomic strata. The current structure is a faithful reproduction that has operated for more than 30 years. It’s very close to Tate Modern and right along the Thames.
Terrible tour, uninspired. If you are looking for a masterclass in how to completely drain the magic out of Shakespeare, this tour is for you. My visit to Shakespeare’s Globe today 4/10/26 was, without a doubt, one of the most tedious and utterly boring experiences I have ever endured. Rather than focusing on the rich history of the theatre or the genius of the plays, we were subjected to a rambling, uninspired lecture that somehow managed to heavily feature long tangents about modern toilets and the River Thames. Riveting stuff. The guide delivered the information and the entire hour felt like an endurance test .The manger and receptionist had an total attitude that was not hiden, absolutely rigid policies and claimed they couldn't issue a refund because the tickets were "used"—as if experiencing a thoroughly miserable product means you forfeit the right to object. Full of excuses and entirely lacking in basic professionalism or hospitality. To top off a rotten day, the customer service was just as dreadful as the tour itself. When I approached the desk to request a refund for the 56 pounds I wasted, I was met with a wall of excuses and outright refusal. Save your money, skip this mismanaged tourist trap, and read a book outside instead. You'll have a much better time. Hope this saves you money
