Description
Welcome to Fascinating tour to the land of mountains where top of the ridges are always covered with snow and where narrow gorges hide small lakes with an amazing color of water.
The lakes are called the Haftkul (which means “Seven Lakes” in Tajik) - sometimes they are also known as Marguzor Lakes.
Mountain villages perched near Lakes Khurdak and Marguzor provide a glimpse into the present-day lifestyle of rural Tajik families.

Great tour, dont buy here with Viator
Beautiful but not exactly what was sold and expected.
1. We did not visit the Visit Sarazm archeological site.
2. We did not have time to stroll around or enjoy the lakes, only a few minutes to take pictures.
3. Both guides spoke minimal english so it was not very informative.
Everything went smoothly and both guides were at meeting points on time.
We were back at the hotel at 5PM I would have appreciated more time at the lakes or visit of Sarazm and be back at 6/7PM.
You can book this tour locally with hotels or agency for a fraction of this price.
Operator response
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad to hear that everything went smoothly and that our guides were at the meeting points on time.
We sincerely apologize that you did not have enough time to fully enjoy the Seven Lakes and visit the Sarazm archaeological site. Unfortunately, during this period there are many tourists visiting the Seven Lakes, and the border crossing can also take considerably longer than usual. As your border crossing was completed later than expected, we had to adjust the schedule and, unfortunately, skip Sarazm and allow less time at the lakes in order to return to Samarkand on time.
Regarding the guides, we understand your concern about the English communication. We had included a guide who has been working with us since the beginning of the season and has received very positive reviews from other travelers, but we recognize that the experience may vary from guest to guest.
We appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration when planning future departures, especially regarding time management and English-speaking guide arrangements.
Thank you again for traveling with us and for sharing your experience.

Great day trip. Everything was perfectly organized, on time, and we had a very nice and cozy guide in Tajikistan. If you are in Samarkand, do it for real.

Unforgettable experience with seamless organization!
Everything about this trip was arranged so smoothly from start to finish. The pick-up was prompt, and the vehicles provided for both transfer and sightseeing in Tajikistan were exceptionally comfortable.
Our driver and tour guide were fantastic—professional, friendly, and super helpful throughout the journey. A special mention goes to Seven Lakes: the scenery there is absolutely breathtaking, beautifully raw, and untouched.
I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a hassle-free and memorable trip to Tajikistan!

Tajikistan Seven Lakes; great tour with the best tour guide!
If you visit the Seven Lakes, be prepared to spend long hours on unpaved roads, but you will be rewarded with astonishing views of the scenery in an unreal harsh environment where people manage to live their lives under hard conditions. It's a welcome change after visiting multiple cities to be in rural territory and experience Tajik-hospitality. Please make sure Dilo is your guide, this extraordinary lovely, lively, fun, well English speaking tour guide is the best I ever had! She really added value to my tour with her strong historical and local knowledge and her positive energy. In my opinion a tour guide could make or break a tour, and Dilo definitely made it a wordefull experience! Job Well Done Dilo and Viator!!

Operator response
Thank you for your review and for sharing your experience. We’re glad you enjoyed the Seven Lakes and had a good guide and picnic lunch.
We would just like to clarify the difference in tour durations. We offer several Seven Lakes tour options with different durations and prices.
our own group very small, with only six guests, while the tour was fully booked across our partner groups.
Before the tour, we contacted you and explained the situation, including that you would be joining a partner group. You agreed to this arrangement. The other guests had booked through different platforms, where the tour descriptions and durations were different.
As a result, everyone travelled together in the same vehicle, although the bookings had been made under different tour options.
We understand that the total time on the road was longer than expected, and we’re sorry if this caused inconvenience. We appreciate your feedback and will continue working to make the tour information and arrangements as clear as possible for all guests.
Thank you again for travelling with us.

Day in the lakes
I had a great experience visiting the Seven Lakes in Tajikistan. Everything was very well organized, from the driver who picked me up in Samarkand and took me to the border, to the driver and guide waiting for me on the Tajik side.
Special shoutout to Dilo, my guide, who was very passionate about her work and made the visit even more interesting. The lakes are absolutely beautiful, and I learned a lot along the way.
Highly recommended!

Fantastic tour into Tajikistan
The 7 lakes tour was a brilliant end to our trip - the pick up and transfer across the border all went smoothly and then were into the breathtaking remote Fann mountains. The seven lakes themselves were amazing, each different, and we finished with a picnic and a quick swim (if you wished) at the final lake. Our tajik tour guide, Numon, was fantastic and kept us entertained and informed- and our driver was brilliant and safe through the twists and turns of the mountain passes. Thank you Numon👍😎

Do not miss it
It is a stunning setting, with rocky peaks that go down dramatically into and around the lakes, each of them different in colour and feeling. The road is rough, and sometimes is really narrow and in the border of the cliffs, but our driver and the car were both up to the challenge. We stopped at a restaurant in lake 3 for lunch. The tour was extremelly well organised both sides of the bordes. If you are in Samarkand, I recommend it.

Fantastic day in Tajikistan!
I am a woman traveling solo and had such a great time on this excursion. It was a well-organized, fun, and educational introduction to a beautiful region of Tajikistan. The guide met me at the pickup point in Samarkand (Uzbekistan) and brought me and the rest of the group (5 other people joined) to the border, where he took our photo so the guide on the other side would recognize us. The English-speaking guide in Tajikistan was amazing! He showed us an archaeological site, helped us to the ATM for local money, walked us through the market of Panchakent, and described each of the seven lakes in detail. We were back in Samarkand by 8pm.
