Seoul Ghost Walk: Dark History & Folklore After Dark

Interesting stories about ghosts and folklore. Fun to walk around at night in different parts of Seoul and hear stories about different ghost sightings and folk beliefs.

This was a very enjoyable ghost tour. I'm glad to have opted for the extended version. Shawn clearly is deeply immersed in Korean history and culture and has an academic and personal interest in these dark stories. He is an excellent storyteller, and he learns each guest's name and takes an interest in where they are from and any paranormal experiences they may have had. I especially enjoyed that this tour led me off of the big, busy boulevards and down charming residential streets. Shawn set the scene by getting the group grounded in the topography of the city of Seoul, and he transmitted his enthusiasm for the beauty and energy of a very special tree, for example. I loved that this transplant-cum-local shared his special appreciation for and connection to this place and its history, and I felt like I got a privileged insider's view into a city I was visiting for only a few days. No bother that I didn't see a ghost on tour ;) I'm looking forward to reading Shawn's book when I return home!

Absolutely fantastic experience, one of our favorite things we did in Seoul! We took the ghost tour and the lore tour(extended editions!), and Shaun and Joe were incredible guides. The stories were eerie and chilling, with lots of historical context to match. The tours take you all over Seoul, but the pace is nice and easy, you won’t even notice you’ve been walking for two hours. My mom has been listening to the podcast for years so she was especially delighted to see all the places she had only heard about before. Truly a dream come true, and lived up to all the hype! Thank you Shaun and Joe for the memories we’ll treasure forever. We’re already planning our next visit to take the grave walk :)

the tour was way over priced we left feeling ripped off and we felt like he was scamming everyone he just kept trying to sell his tours and his book he wrote really annoying considering it was $60

We had a great time on the ghost tour. Shawn is extremely knowledgeable and took us to some interesting places. Highly recommend!

We had a great time with Joe. So much so that we extended from the regular tour to the longer tour. The jokes were great and his insight from living in Seoul so long was great to add context to the stories he told.

Joe delivered a very knowledgeable round up of gruesome and interesting historical facts and folklore. We all enjoyed it.

My friend and I went for the extended tour and there was another couple who joined us for the non-extended version. Felt that the extended version was more worth the money with more sharing of stories and exploring additional sites. Shawn was a great guide and storyteller and also very knowledgeable of the Korean culture and folklore/ghosts. He was always open to answering any questions and sharing more related stories in return. 2.5 hours flew by pretty fast and we wished there was a further extended version haha! As someone who is much more sensitive to the paranormal, I had 3 experiences on the tour, all of which were on the palace grounds. Bought Shawn's book to read more into it :)

Shawn was incredible and truly has a gift for bringing these stories to life. His expertise in folklore, combined with his knowledge of Korean history and the human experience, made the tour both fascinating and genuinely thought-provoking. He also went out of his way to show us a few additional places that matched our personal interests, which we really appreciated and were excited to see. We've already recommended Shawn to both friends and family—whether they live in Korea or are planning a visit—and we'll absolutely be checking out his other tours the next time we're back.
