Each lesson includes a 10-15 minute land lesson on the basics of surfing and ocean safety. The rest of the lesson is spent in the water with your instructor. The meeting point is Departure Point: Maui Waveriders located across from Kalama Park, on Kihei Road. It is on the corner of Auhana and Kihei Road, next to the HiTech Surf Shop. Address: 2021 South Kihei Road, Kihei, Hawaii, 96753. Directions: If you are on South Kihei Road coming from South Kihei/Wailea, turn right on Auhana Road. If you are on South Kihei Road coming from North Kihei, turn left onto Auhana Road. Dates: See Availability. Hotel pickup is not part of this experience.

Excellent experience! From the moment we walked in the door the entire staff made us feel welcome! The instructors are amazing and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable before getting in the water. If you’re ever considering surf lessons we highly recommend going here! Can’t wait to come back to Maui to surf again as our entire party learned in just one lesson.
Highly recommend and would definitely use again we did semi private lesson for my 10 and 13 year old and also the private at the same time for my 6 year old the booking and checkin process was easy their instructors Dillon and Josh were great and they had the best time the asked to do it again the next day! They all caught waves and said the instructors were fun and helpful! Checkin provided a rash guard and surf shoes and I felt like the price for 2 hours was more than reasonable! Will definitely use again the next time we are back!
Such a great experience! I did the surf lesson with my two boys (13 and 15), and Noa was an awesome instructor. He was patient, calm and soft-spoken, but also really effective at explaining what to do and helping each of us get the hang of it. By the end, all three of us had managed to get up and ride several waves! We had so much fun and felt really comfortable with Noa the entire time. Definitely one of the highlights of our Maui trip and something we’ll all remember. Highly recommend!
Great experience for our older teenagers who had their first surf lesson with Dylan. They got plenty of time in the sea and really liked Dylan’s style.
Our instructor was more interested in being a comedian than teaching us how to surf. I think he goes by the name of "surf daddy" or something. For starters he called us over for a "safety briefing", didn't introduce himself or even ask us our names, and then, told a bunch of recycled jokes, and our safety guide consisted of us respecting mother nature. Not what to do if you fall off the board, not how to sit down on the board at the end of a ride, not how to avoid rocks, etc. Then his total "instruction" consisted of a three minute land lesson where he told us to get onto our knees first, then our feet, and then said let's hit the water. The instructor next to us did a 15-20 minute land lesson. We could have literally learned what he taught us with a five minute Youtube video. Then on the water, when we asked him if he could give us some pointers on how to stay on the board, his only answer was to "try slowing down". That was it. And while we were trying to surf, he kept looking out at the real surfers further out in the ocean and hooting and hollering for people who were surfing well, without even paying attention to us. Keep in mind that small kids will easily get up on a board because they are so light, so if that's what you are trying to accomplish, I suggest saving hundreds of dollars by watching some Youtube videos, rent a couple of boards for them, and then have an adult stand in the surf and push them forward when the waves come through. It's not rocket science for sure as we learned the hard way. I'm sure this company is good at what they do, but just make sure you ask for an instructor that is anyone but this guy. The other instructors were definitely more dialed in and paying attention to their clients. And for what it's worth, I offer this review as someone who has travelled the world and done countless lessons with locals, and understand the difference between someone who is good at their job and one that is not.
Had a great time first time surfing. We all got up on the boards, the instructor was very helpful and went at our pace. It was quite breezy so hard work paddling but the water is nice and shallow so you can walk out a fair way to save energy. Great bonus being able to have the boards until 3pm to practice on your own after but 2 hours was enough for us. Photos were really great and we felt reasonably priced for the quality.
Because i booked with trip advisor, they didn’t provide the name of the surf school so it was a challenge to locate and we ended up being late. The private lesson was great but the ocean was so crowded that it dampened the experience

The staff were so friendly from the moment we walked in, and by the time we left we felt like family. Thank you to Andrew for being a fantastic instructor who pushed us to be brave but never pushed us too much. We caught waves!
Great location. Easy to find. Unbelievably friendly staff. Very accommodating. Worked one on one with my grandson and myself. Andrew our instructor was the best I have ever experienced. He made my grandson feel incredibly important
