Secrets of Almeria - Tapas Tour

I have lived in Almería province for almost 20 years and I have been a very frequent visitor to its capital city. I thought I wouldn't be able to learn much new so when I had the opportunity to discover Almería with Cathy I was very surprised that she was able to show things which are difficult for a visitor to learn. Cathy is a charming and informative chatterbox, a host with with such a sunny and enthusiastic personality it is impossible to pass the day without being both entertained and informed. Thanks to her I had a great day. I cannot recommend this trip enough, don't pass it by if you have the opportunity.

We had a brilliant time with Cathy, our guide. She is so enthusiastic, knowledgeable about the food and culture of Almeria. We started the tour in the central market where we bought fresh prawns that were to be cooked by a restaurant within the market. Cathy also bought other tapas from the market which were delicious. We moved onto other bars and restaurants sampling their tapas. The whole experience was fantastic and we would highly recommend doing the tour with Cathy.

Cathy was a fantastic guide, bubbly, knowledgeable and really interacted with our group. I would highly recommend this tour to truly experience the Spanish tapa vibes and to explore Almeria's hidden gems.

Cathy was recommended as a guide for a tapas tour of Almeria, and I wasn’t disappointed. She’s such a vivacious lady, you can’t help being enthused about everything. The fish market is such a good experience, and I had no idea you can buy the fish fresh, then have it cooked in a cafe above. Cathy’s knowledge of Almeria and its history is excellent. We walked through back streets full of character, stopped at some of the best places for tapas, learned about the different drinks and what to order, and just had an amazing time. If you’re looking for a friendly, knowledgeable guide, then choose Cathy. Highly recommended.

This was absolutely amazing! Well worth the money and more. Cathy is cheerful, enthusiastic, clearly doing this for her love of being around and helping people. She catered to our needs and, besides her passion for Almeria, showed real interest in us as persons. I didn’t feel like a tourist - she made me feel like a friend.

Cathy was very bubbly, friendly and knowledgeable. She took us to really interesting places, starting in the fish market where she bought prawns to be cooked on the grill, just like the locals do. Then onto 4 more bars where we tried their specialties, including country wine at the oldest bar in Almería. The whole experience was fantastic and felt like an extra long lunch with friends. Highly recommended!

An absolutely amazing tour of Almería and worth every penny! The mix of historical sites, the beautiful old town, incredible tapas, and drinks made this such a unique experience from start to finish. Cathy was fun, knowledgeable, and gave us so many helpful hints and tips along the way, especially when it came to ordering food and drinks like a local. I came away feeling much more confident navigating menus and trying new things in Spain. The atmosphere was relaxed, entertaining, and full of great energy. We discovered places and details we never would have found on our own. If you want a fun, authentic, and memorable way to experience Almería, I can’t recommend this tour enough

My husband and I booked the Tapas Tour with Cathy. What an amazing afternoon we had! We’ve had a holiday home here for a while, but never really experienced the more authentic places to eat tapas as it can be a bit daunting if you’re not quite sure how or what to order. But Cathy has changed all that; we started off at the indoor market where we learned about all the local produce. We sampled some freshly cooked red prawns from Garrucha, amazing toasted almonds, several different types of frittata and some beautiful olive oils. We then walked through the city with Cathy giving a very informative talk along the way. We visited several tapas bars where Cathy suggested which plates to order with our drinks. Again, this was so helpful as the menus can be a bit overwhelming. One of the bars was the oldest in Almeria, and was absolutely packed with people spilling out onto the street. The atmosphere was incredible. Honestly, we would not have had the courage to go inside or know what to order if we’d have been on our own. Cathy explained everything and quickly got us drinks and a wonderful selection of food. It was so nice to be there, mingling with the Spanish crowd and taking in the culture. Our final stop was another fabulous bar, where we had some lovely local wine and beautifully presented tapas. It felt like we were out with friends we had known for ages as our group was small, I think she only takes a maximum of 6 people on each tour, so it felt relaxed and friendly the whole time. I really wish we had done this tour sooner, it’s opened our eyes to the real Spain and given us confidence to try new places and we will definitely return to this wonderful city. What a wonderful day we had! We thoroughly enjoyed walking around Almeria with our guide Cathy who told us lots of interesting stories about the area. We visited many places to sample the local food and drink, there was so much variety, it was hard to choose a favourite because everything was delicious. Cathy is a fantastic guide, she is so enthusiastic which made the tour a really fun experience. She was also so helpful about local information eg transport from the train station. Highly recommended.
