San Francisco LGBTQ Walking Tour with Local Guide

What an amazing experience and history of the Castro! Would highly recommend Kathy’s tour!

Kathy is great! We went on the tour with our two teenage girls. Kathy’s approach was a perfect fit because she weaves general education about diversity into the history of the Castro. And her perspectives are first person because she herself is an activist. Our kids left not only with an understanding of queer history in San Francisco, but also with a sense of responsibility for continuing the work.

Kathy was an EXCELLENT tour guide. She is obviously very passionate about LGBT rights and has a wealth of knowledge that she shared during the tour. Beyond this, the tour was easy - everything in the Castro district is very close. It left me feeling a bit more empowered and wanting to get more involved in Pride and LGBT rights issues. The tour included famous and less famous names of people who supported and were part of the community and how they initiated and potentiated change for the better for the community. Overall a REALLY great experience and one that I can not recommend more!

Kathy’s tour was informative, friendly, inclusive and powerful! Highly recommend whether you are new to queer history or if you just want to hang in the Castro!

The Castro is full of rich LGBTQIA+ history. It comes alive in the afternoon and evening but if you want a less distracting experience the earlier tour will work for you. Our guide, Kathy was very thoughtful and invested in the community so her insights were very real.

We had a great private walking tour tour with Kathy and our summer legal interns. Despite living in the Castro for 20 years myself, I still learned a number of new things about the neighborhood and it's history.

Kathy was a fantastic, insightful guide to the Castro! From the moment we met up with her, it felt like we were with someone we'd known for years. We learned so much and I greatly appreciated her perspective as a longtime SF resident and active member of the community. She had an easygoing demeanor and good sense of humor in addition to lots of knowledge. This is important history that feels more and more under threat each day, so highlighting the crucial roles LGBTQ+ people have played in history and in particular SF was such a welcome reminder that you need to work to make progress and prosper.
