We really enjoyed our private tour to Frascati. The vineyard experience was super interesting, and the wine was fantastic. Our tour guide Juan was very knowledgeable and very personable. I would recommend this tour for anyone trying to get away from the Rome big city experience and was to see a different side of the Italian lifestyle in Frascati.
This was a highlight of my trip to Italy. We were staying in Rome, and it was lovely to get out of the city for a while and see an Italian village. We had a walking tour of the village then a tour of the winery, which was fascinating. Our tour guide, Enzo, and the woman at the winery were excellent. We ended with a delicious luncheon at a restaurant connected to the winery. The trip was very well organized and a pleasure. Well worth it.
While our time around Frascati naturally included great wine, the experience went far beyond anything we had imagined. The day was filled with fascinating insights into history, archaeology, landscape, and local food traditions, all shared in a very engaging way. The scenery was stunning, and the winery visit was a real highlight, from the vineyard walk to the old underground cellars and the excellent tastings. I would absolutely recommend this tour.
We booked the wine tour with Marco, which happened to fall on my birthday! We had such a fantastic day! Marco picked us up from our hotel in Rome and was incredibly insightful. While it’s obviously his role, it truly felt like we were companions throughout the day. He answered every question, shared details we would never have discovered, and helped us experience remarkable moments all day long!
This tour was exceptional from start to finish. It began right on time outside our apartment, followed by a relaxing cappuccino stop before exploring the scenic Frascati hills. The combination of historic sites, a delicious local lunch, and generous wine tastings made for an unforgettable day. The conversation, atmosphere, and attention to detail created the ideal getaway from Rome — highly recommended for anyone wanting to experience another side of Italy!
This is an enjoyable half-day tour, but in my opinion is over-priced at $300/person. Frascati is a pleasant, but unremarkable small town close to Rome. The guide was quite friendly and we enjoyed speaking with him, but other than providing company, there's not much for him to add to the trip. It's about a 10 euro train ticket which you can easily buy on your own. Once in Frascati, you don't need a guide to stroll around and get a feel for the place. There's not a lot historic interest and most of the town was rebuilt after World War II. Furthermore, when you arrive in the morning, the town is still mostly closed. The Frascati visit part of the tour is over-sold in my opinion. The wine country is lovely as is the vineyard we visited. We tasted 3 mid-range wines, nothing as impressive as you might experience in Montalcino or Montepulciano. It seems that the visit to the vineyard accounts for about 50 euro per person, not including transportation. The guide who did the vineyard tour, was different from the guide who accompanied us from Rome. She was friendly and knowledgeable. Lunch was a plate of pasta and a glass of wine at a good, modest restaurant in Frascati, followed by the 30 minute train ride home. Somehow this all doesn't quite add up to a good value at $300/person. There are other day trips which include more and cost less. The best way to do this trip in my opinion: Book a room at the guest house at the vineyard, spend the day wine tasting and relaxing poolside and have an excellent meal at the vineyard restaurant. Spend the night and take the train each way. The vineyard doesn't publish its room rates, but I speculate that you would spend less or equal for a better, more relaxing trip with more time to savor the experience and also have a real dinner rather than a plate of pasta.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’d like to clarify that this experience involves a significant amount of logistics, including train coordination, transfers, restaurant arrangements, and vineyard ticket management. Beyond historical knowledge of Frascati, Roman emperors, and local wine traditions, the guide ensures everything runs seamlessly throughout the day. While it may seem possible to visit on your own, organizing all of this without knowing the area can be quite challenging. Of course, having a private guide for the entire day also contributes to the tour cost, but it guarantees comfort, efficiency, and an authentic local experience. Our guides put their heart into making every tour memorable, and the many excellent reviews we receive reflect the quality and dedication behind each experience.
From the very first messages, Marco was patient with all our requests. The tour itself was wonderful—a lovely trip to Frascati. We enjoyed it so much, and Marco was also a great person to chat with along the way. The lunch restaurant he chose was excellent, with delicious food. Highly recommended!
The tour was an excellent experience to get away from the busyness of Rome, while still being nearby. Frascati had a little village’s charm and the visit at the vineyard was enlightening. We were well taken care of by the tour operator throughout the tour and all of our questions were answered.
Juan was an awesome tour guide. Knowledge and fun. This tour was so much more to an we expected. It included a great walking tour before the winery that I did not realize was included and made the experience extra special.
Our guide was awesome. We had a bit of confusion on the meeting place but made it work. The winery was awesome and great wine tasting. We finished at a little local restaurant and the food was so good. I would highly recommend this tour on your visit to Rome.
