Start your morning in true Italian style with coffee and pastries in a bakery that serves as the meeting point for locals all over the neighborhood.
Following a typical Roman’s daily routine, you’ll make your way to the local market. While there, you’ll meet a few of the passionate vendors—some of whom have had their stalls for 40 years. Try incredible local pizza, farm-fresh vegetables, and artisanal cheeses and cured meats. You’ll also enjoy a sandwich from a stall that locals can’t stop talking about—and revisiting time and time again.

After the market, it's time for lunch. You’ll head to a family-run trattoria to try a pasta with true local roots paired with Italian red wine. As you eat, your guide will give you a crash course in Italian mealtimes.
Between each foodie stop, your local guide will point out important landmarks, including an Ancient Roman archaeological site. This mountain of broken pottery is a testament to the neighborhood's commercial roots.

Alessandro was a great host. Very knowledgeable about the food and wine of the area. We spent a thoroughly enjoyable few hours with him and one other couple. The small group option is definitely the way to go. Testaccio is very cool. So much great stuff to see and do. I think the markets were the highlight. I’ll be going there tomorrow to buy far more delicious food than we will possibly be able to consume during our stay. I may need two seats on the plane back to Australia but it was worth it. Well done Alessandro.
Outstanding! Alessandro was so knowledgeable, personable, flexible and full of Roma personality and stories! We had a great tour plus got lots of additional questions answered and tips for our stay. We feel much more knowledgeable and confident to go to the market, cafe bar, restaurant and order like someone from Roma would, with great appreciation and some new vocabulary. We are so glad we did this on our first day in Roma. We really enjoyed our guide and the group was very pleasant as well. Bravo! Grazie!!

Excellently done! We had the best time.
First, the food. Our guide, Mattia brought us to a bar for breakfast. We ate whipped cream and bread with some juice and espresso. After this we went to the market. We tried some pizza al taglio, fruit, prosciutto, and cheese. For lunch we had some ox tail ravioli and wine. Mattia also gave us some insight to the history of the neighborhood. All in all, this was an amazing tour and so was the guide. In my son’s own words, “ W Mattia 10/10 would recommend”.
Absolutely fantastic! Mattia was fabulous! Tasting local food and leaning about the stories of this region was very refreshing.
We had a great tour with Giulia, who was super warm and friendly. Our group of 8 had a good mix of prosciutto, maritozzi (pastries) in a well-known bakery, sandwich at Mordi & Vai, excellent gelato, etc. Highly recommend Testaccio to stay as well as for the food tour! She easily made adjustments for someone who had a dairy intolerance.
