Itinerary

10 min

Designed during the urban redevelopment undertaken after Rome was declared capital of Italy, the Piazza della Repubblica is one of the most important squares of the city, and extremely striking. The Piazza della Repubblica is made up of a large roundabout with an exquisite fountain, Fontana delle Naiadi, surrounded by imposing buildings on one side and a seemingly demolished temple on the other.

5 min

The Quirinal Palace (known in Italian as the Palazzo del Quirinale or simply Quirinale) is a historic building in Rome, Italy, one of the three current official residences of the President of the Italian Republic, together with Villa Rosebery in Naples and Tenuta di Castelporziano in Rome. It is located on the Quirinal Hill, the highest of the seven hills of Rome in an area colloquially called Monte Cavallo. It has housed thirty Popes, four Kings of Italy and twelve presidents of the Italian Republic.

30 min

Trevi Fountain is the most beautiful fountain in Rome. Measuring some 20 meters in width by 26 meters in height, Trevi Fountain is also the largest fountain in the city. The origins of the fountain go back to the year 19 B.C., in which period the fountain formed the end of the Aqua Virgo aqueduct. The first fountain was built during the Renaissance, under the direction of Pope Nicholas V. The final appearance of the Trevi Fountain dates from 1762, when after many years of works at the hand of Nicola Salvi, it was finalized by Giuseppe Pannini. Interestingly enough, the name of Trevi derives from Tre Vie (three ways), since the fountain was the meeting point of three streets.

30 min

The Pantheon of Agrippa, also known as the Roman Pantheon, is one of the architectural masterpieces of the Italian capital. It is the best preserved building from ancient Rome. Completed in 126AD, was a Roman temple with a surprising oculus that is the building's main source of natural light.

Pass by

Piazza Navona is one of Rome’s most iconic and vibrant squares, built on the site of an ancient Roman stadium. Known for its stunning Baroque architecture, lively atmosphere, and beautiful fountains—including Bernini’s famous Fountain of the Four Rivers.

St Peter’s Square or Piazza San Pietro is probably one of the world’s most famous squares and one of the most breath-taking. It is located in Vatican City, at the feet of St. Peter's Basilica. Designed by Bernini during the seventeenth century, it houses over 300,000 people.

15 min

Janiculum Hill, considered by many as the eighth hill of Rome, is a peaceful and refreshing attraction close to the city center. It's situated just outside the ancient city and is a great place to visit to get away from the bustle of Rome. Not to mention that the panorama from the top of the hill is breath-taking. As you walk up its pathways, you'll enjoy superb views of the city. Janiculum became very popular due to the important historical role that it played in the defence of the city. Becoming the setting for the battle in which Garibaldi repelled an attack from French troops, its paths are full of sculptures of the heroes, including Giuseppe Garibaldi.

Soak up the neighbourhood’s bohemian atmosphere and its numerous landmarks. You'll enjoy a drive through the authentic soul of Rome's alleys and typical trattorias, passing by the picturesque Jewish Ghetto.

Inaugurated in 1911 to pay respect to Victor Emmanuel II, the Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele II (Altare della Patria) is an imposing building located in Piazza Venezia. It provides some breath-taking views of Rome. The Monumento Nazionale a Vittorio Emanuele was inaugurated in 1911 as a tribute to Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of Italy after the country's unification. Inside the building is the Institute for the History of the Italian Risorgimento and the Central Museum of the Risorgimento. Since 1921, the Victor Emmanuel Monument holds the tomb of the unknown soldier, a place in which the eternal flame shines and which is always guarded by two soldiers.

Pass by

Known as the Flavian Amphitheatre, the Roman Colosseum is one of the capital's most remarkable monuments. Every year over 6 million people visit it. The Colosseum is the main symbol of Rome. It is an imposing construction that, with almost 2,000 years of history, will bring you back in time to discover the way of life in the Roman Empire.

The Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore is an ancient Catholic basilica that is considered to be the largest of the churches dedicated to the Virgin Mary in Rome. It is one of the city’s four major basilicas.

Best way to see Rome.

We spent 10 days in Italy with our 4 kids ranging from 17 to 7 and this was by far the most fun experience we had. Our tour guide Matteo was fantastic - of course knowledgable but more importantly so full of joy (greeting friends everywhere we went), considerate of needs of all our kids (hard to do with the large age range) , and for me, at least, above all else - he took fantastic pictures for us along the way. Its hard for our family of 6 to get pics all together and he knew all the best spots and nailed the shot every time. You get VIP , skip the line treatement at the Tivoli fountain, Pantheon, etc which makes the whole expereience so smooth.

Must do in Rome!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience! Our guide, Barbara, was absolutely incredible, and we learned so much about Rome. We booked a private tour for my husband, our three children (ages 10, 8, and 5), and me, and every single one of us was engaged the entire time. Barbara made us feel so comfortable and brought the city to life in a way that kept even the kids interested. This was such a wonderful way to see Rome. Because we were on Vespas, we were able to explore charming alleyways and cover so much more of the city than we ever could have on foot. It was also incredibly hot during our visit, and I honestly can’t imagine doing any other type of tour that day. The cooling mist on the vests was such a thoughtful touch and made a huge difference! I would not hesitate to book this tour again and hope to do the night tour the next time we stay in Rome. Thank you for an unforgettable day!

Operator response

One of the BEST experiences ever!

This was our second Vespa Sidecar tour in Rome with this company - the first was a morning ride with friends and the most recent was an afternoon ride with our two grandsons. It was just as wonderful the 2nd time as it was the first. Our two drivers picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel and made sure we were completely comfortable on what was an extremely hot and sunny afternoon. They had an ample supply of bottled water and a misting bottle that they frequently sprayed us with to help us keep as cool as we could be. They had tickets for the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon and they even gave us coins for the Trevi Fountain! The lead guide was extremely knowledgeable about all the sites in and around Rome that we passed by or stopped at (the Pantheon was a special treat!). They also took loads of pictures and videos of us enjoying the sites. They even took some where we posed as if we were "driving" the bikes. This was a marvelous experience both times we've done it, and we wouldn't hesitate to do it a third time with this company or recommend it to all of our friends and fellow travelers.

Operator response

Thank you so much for choosing us again! It means a lot that you came back for another Vespa Sidecar Tour and shared the experience with your grandsons. We’re delighted that the little details—from keeping everyone cool to capturing special photos—helped make the day memorable. We truly appreciate your continued trust and look forward to welcoming you for a third ride!

These guys rock and it was so much fun! Best tour of the Europe trip!!!

Our family of 4 just completed the best tour of our whole Europe trip. A friend told us it was a must do, and it totally was! We had fun taking turns in the side cars. Our drivers had great energy and kindness even on the hottest afternoon ever. The little gelato spot was the best we have tried, and the knowledge our guide gave was fantastic. We learned so much about the city and now have some great places to keep exploring with the rest of our trip. Plus it was so fun and helped manage the temps even in the heat. I felt sad for the poor golf cart tour kids by comparison as we zoomed around. As a family, it was also great to get so many family pictures instead of the squished family selfie or the everyone but mom picture. Absolutely a must do with this group. They are fantastic and so much fun!

Operator response

Thank you for such an enthusiastic review! We’re thrilled that the Vespa Sidecar Tour became the highlight of your European adventure. It’s wonderful to hear your family had so much fun together and came home with great memories—and plenty of family photos! We really appreciate your recommendation and hope to see you again in Rome.

Most FUN tour we did in Rome!

This was the most fun thing we did during our week in Rome! Don’t miss it. We booked the private Vespa tour for a family of 3. I’ve always had a fear of motorcycles, but felt very safe as our professional drivers navigated all the roads and stops. Monica was our guide; she was this tiny Italian lady with an over the top infectious personality - she had us laughing and enjoying the entire trip. We visited all the Rome highlights and made many stops - at an city overlook, to go in the Parthenon, to see the Trevi Fountain (Monica even gave us a coin to through in as she explained the custom.) We were given an earpiece that fits under the helmets so Monica could navigate our entire tour - we learned so much! Even our 14 year old daughter wanted to spend more time with Monica (when you’ve entertained and caught the imagination of a teenager, you are really amazing - thank you Monica!). We also stopped at a delicious gelato place for a snack; they had cold bottles of water for us on the Vespas. Thank you Vespa Sidecar Tours and Monica for the perfect day!! I will be recommending this to everyone I know who visits Rome!

The Gelato still haunts me

Worth it! We had a lot of fun. You will be sharing a Vespa with another passenger and the sidecar is more fun to sit in, but sitting behind the driver is still fun. The gelato spot was so, so good. You get enough time to take pictures at the hot spots. It was a great way to see Rome.

Operator response

Thank you for your great review! We’re so happy you enjoyed the Vespa Sidecar Tour—and we completely understand about the gelato! We’re glad you had plenty of time to enjoy the stops and take photos while discovering Rome in such a unique way. Hope to see you again soon!

An Unforgettable Ride Through Rome

This was one of the most unique and memorable experiences of our trip! Riding through Rome in a vintage Vespa sidecar was such a fun way to see the city, especially in the afternoon when everything was full of life. Our guide was fantastic and took us to so many of Rome's iconic landmarks, including the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, St. Peter's Square, Trastevere, and breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the city. We loved being able to cover so much ground while learning interesting facts and stopping for photos along the way. The gourmet gelato was the perfect treat to end the tour. If you're looking for a sightseeing experience that's different from a traditional walking tour, this is it. It was fun, exciting, and one of the highlights of our time in Rome!

Operator response
