Roatan Reef Snorkel Adventure

We can recommend this experience and company wholeheartedly! We booked a Snorkel Hopping excursion that would take us to 3 spots for snorkeling. Uncle Joe was right there to pick us at the instructed meeting place from our cruise dock and was very friendly and ready with all kinds of tidbits about the island as we drove along. We got to the boat dock and found out we were the only 2 people booked for the tour at this time. They probably could have emailed ahead of time saying they would cancel, but that didn't happen. Instead, showing great integrity, we got an unbelievable experience of essentially having a private guided snorkeling tour for the regular (extremely reasonable) group rate! Our boat captain was Will and our guide was Joseph. Absolutely perfect gentlemen, both. The snorkeling was hands down the best time we've ever had snorkeling. The reef was beautiful and there so many different species of fish it was overwhelming. We even got to see a Nurse Shark. Joseph was an excellent guide! He constantly dove down pointing out different fish and then would tell us the names. It was really beautiful. It felt like we had been in the water for a good amount of time when Joseph said we had about 30 minutes left. "30 more minutes still!", I thought. "This is great!!" I was already 100% satisfied with my snorkeling experience when we got back on the boat, but then I realized we still had more spots to hit! Again, Joseph was a great guide. My wife had a brief issue with her mask and snorkel and he sorted her out super quickly so there was barely any pause in our fun. The equipment they provided was perfect and good quality and with the care they seemed to be taking with everything, I never worried about cleanliness or sanitation. I was really happy that we were not required to wear floatation devices during the snorkeling. (Each time we've snorkeled over at Cozumel, they said floatation devices were mandatory. I'm a strong swimmer and like to dive down a bit now and then which is near impossible to do with a life vest on!) They did have some floatation assistance if we had needed it, though. We finished our tour and Uncle Joe drove us right back to our cruise port. If/when we get back to Roatan, I won't even bother searching for a different company when it comes to snorkeling. I'll happily book with ROA again and just hope they are available. In fact, the price was so reasonable and the experience we ended up having was so great that I would very seriously just consider booking a private tour next time. They say they always try to keep their tour sizes small so I'm sure even with more people there, it would be a fantastic experience, but it was a luxury to have 100% of the attention on us and with how great they are, it would be worth it to book a private tour. I didn't even bother this time with underwater cameras or smart phone pouches. There was a LOT I could have gotten pictures of, but I'm kind of happy with just being fully in the moment for the whole tour and no pictures I could have taken would compare to seeing it in real life. Thanks again to everyone at ROA that made our day on Roatan such a memorable experience!

We did the Snorkeling Hopping Adventure and couldn't have asked for a better day. From start to finish, the service was fantastic. David picked us up right at the cruise terminal and drove us out to the spot, making the transport completely stress-free. Once we arrived, the crew made sure we had all the right gear (snorkel, mask, and fins) and gave us the option for safety gear. We opted for pool noodles, which made floating and exploring super relaxed. Our captain, Doug, kept the boat smooth and steady, while our guide, Erickson, took incredible care of us. Erickson helped everyone safely get into the ocean and guided us through an awesome reef, pointing out different marine life along the way. I was carrying a GoPro, and Erickson offered to take it to capture some shots. He swam all the way down to a nurse shark to get some unbelievable footage for us! You can tell this crew genuinely cares about giving you a great experience. Highly recommend booking with them if you're in Roatan!

This snorkeling experience was amazing! We came to Roatan on a cruise and were picked up from the cruise port 30 minutes after gangway down. We didn't need to worry about the ship being late or any timing things. The snorkeling was amazing! The reef was beautiful and we saw so many fish. Our guide snorkeling with us and was very personable and knowledgeable about the marine life. He dove down a few times to point out cool fish or coral. Highly recommend!

Finding the meeting point from the Carnival port was an adventure and the tickets from TripAdvisor weren't clear which company we were supposed to look for. But once we had that sorted the snorkel experience was great. We saw lots of fish and coral and anemone and I felt safe in the water with our 2 elementary age kids. I would recommend it for a family with younger kids who are comfortable swimming and a first time snorkel experience.

Super easy to find the driver. She took us to the boat. We met the captain and guide at the dock. The staff is super friendly, helpful, accommodating and respectful. Great visibility and underwater wildlife. We even saw a nurse shark.

My partner in life and our 3 kids did this snorkeling excursion and we loved it. We had done it last year with only the 2 of us but this time decided to bring the kids with us. All the staff was super friendly. The van that took us from the port to the snorkeling place was really comfortable with A/C, USB plugs and everything we could ask for. They have a few dogs and cats that were all lovely too. We loved the snorkeling. Lots of nice reef/corrals, lots of fish and even got to see 2 lobsters thanks to our guide who showed them to us. The equipment they provided was of good quality and shape.

The ABSOLUTE BEST!!! Our driver Brandon was top notch! Answered a million questions we had about the island and friendly. Snorkeling was AMAZING. Our guide took his time, pointed out all kinds of sea life and insured we were all safe! 3 stops and we weren't rushed at all. Very safe! Would do 100 times again!

We absolutely loved this excursion. We booked through Trip Advisor as opposed to the cruise line and wound up in a small group…which we loved! We skipped through the crowds at the port and got directed to the ROA people. Our driver took good care of us and got us to the dock for this amazing excursion. The captain and the guide know the reef and the are well. We saw all kinds of marine life and just enjoyed this fantastic opportunity to see a lot of the reef in three different spots. We were dropped at Brady’s Cay where we enjoyed drinks (get the Monkey La La) and excellent beef nachos. The beach area was very clean and the water was crystal clear. This was the second of three excursions we booked through Trip Advisor for this trip and we would book it again in the future.

We had a great time on this snorkel excursion. My goal was to see this 2nd largest barrier reef, and the view and tour exceeded my expectations. Instructions for pickup were given the night before. Herman provided some details along the drive and answered our questions. The starting point for snorkeling was right next to the reef. Norman was a great guide in the water. We are not frequent snorkelers, but he gave just the right amount of instruction, pointing out different fish, and keeping out of the shallow areas, while allowing us to snorkel on our own. We also had time to see a shipwreck. Would highly recommend ROA.
