Rio Guadiana River Cruise

The cruise, lunch, entertainment and guides were all very good and well organised. These we would give five stars. The meeting arrangement is a little chaotic and you are asked to arrive far too early. We understand this is to ensure all are there but to arrive on time at 09:30 and gthen be told to go away until 0950/55 is not necessary.

This trip is a good day out. The Riosult Team work hard to make the day enjoyable. That said, we were asked to be at the meeting point at 9:15. We were asked then to return at 9:45 . We were told then the boat would be available at 10. In other words, we could have started much earlier or join later! There was no safety briefing on board. The duration of the cruise was an opportunity to give information about the river’s history, relationship between Portugal and Spain, the environment, wildlife, geography, farming practices and so on. Unfortunately there was very little information shared and often hard to understand unfortunately. For instance, we saw an eagle three times (one time overhead) and that’s a big deal! There were thoughtful arrangements to assist people unable to make a short walk to the farmhouse. The itinerary allowed for a swim before eating at a farmhouse. Maybe because there were no changing facilities, few did, so it was a bit of a wait for lunch. The food was very good. The Riosult team sang which was great and much enjoyed. We then returned. There was load music which let’s just say was not to everyone’s taste and it was intrusive for some guests. For us it spoiled what should have been a tranquil return for passengers. People were glad to leave which was a shame. I hope these thoughts help.

This was a good value, full day out with experienced multi lingual guides, showing around the Guadiana river area of the southern Portuguese border with Spain. I booked directly with Riosultravel, through their website which was very straightforward. The meeting point was adjacent to the cross-river ferry terminal in Villa Real de Santo Antonio. I was on a jeep safari followed by lunch, and the second half of the day a river cruise back to the pick up point. The jeep part was great, we saw many birds including flamingos, and had spectacular mountain views as we moved inland. There was a pleasant stop at an organic farm to sample chutney and use their facilities. The jeep is open-topped and I was glad I wore a hat to shield from the sun. The lunch stop was at a picturesque restaurant beside the river. A highlight was the large swimming pool available for use. The food was great: cheese, soup, bbq chicken, potatoes, salad and fresh melon, wine and soft drinks included. There was entertainment in the form of singing by the guides which was actually very good. If you didn’t fancy that you could relax outside and take in the views. The final part was the river tour. Again, there was entertainment in the boat, but you could also just take in the views from the deck. The whole trip was well organised and a full day out from 9-30 to 5-30. The guides were great and I thought it was good value considering how much was included in the day.

Spectacular experience! I recommend it to everyone. Since we had 2 celiac people in the group, we contacted them in advance to see if they could have safe options. The care was exceptional: they were very concerned about cross-contamination and even disinfected our places and cutlery. They provided us with a delicious and 100% safe meal. We strongly advise this tour operator. Thank you so much for this special day! We cannot fail to mention that the landscape is magnificent.

Where do I start. What a beautiful slow cruise we had a long the river to our destination. Esther was an amazing tour guide. I did the 10 minute walk upto the restaurant/ swimming pool when we arrived at Foz de Odeleite. Swim very much need. Tables set out beautifully for our lunch. Then not realising that the captain of the boat ,his crew & the safari drivers were our waiters & entertainment. Absolutely amazing, they deserved every round of applause. And to the cooks who were too shy to come out ,the food was lovely 😍. Our cruise back was fun & entertaining with singing & dancing. All unexpected. I would certainly recommend this boat cruise.

Exceptional Day trip. Nice boat, and plenty to see. Lunch stop and swimming pool were excellent, as was the entertainment. I’d recommend anyone to experience this trip!

Very nice day, good animation, real pros, listening to the customer. From the moment of care, it smells of professionalism, basic restoration, but complete at will, to certainly do again, thanks to the beautiful German for her natural smile.

Well, I couldn't put any punches on it, the truth is that we haven't had a great time, try at all times to have a good time and it's been spectacular, I thank the whole group how good we haven't had, it's been lovely the timing of the songs in the restaurant, THANKS

We had a truly lovely and relaxing day on the Guadiana River Cruise. The scenery along the river was beautiful and it was such a peaceful way to enjoy the surroundings. There was commentary from our fabulous host Esther in Portuguese, French and English, pointing out some of the interesting facts about the area. We stopped at a charming little villa with a pool where some of us took a dip before lunch. The setting was tranquil and really added to the experience. Lunch was delicious, featuring traditional Portuguese food, and we were treated to live folk music which gave it a really authentic feel. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming throughout the day. On the way back, the mood was lively and full of fun, with live entertainment, dancing, and even a conga line! It was a perfect mix of relaxation and lighthearted fun. Highly recommend this cruise to anyone visiting the area. It wasa memorable and enjoyable way to spend a day.
