Definitely worth it. The place was a bit hard to find, but shouldn't be too difficult with Google maps. You can't bring your shoes inside the actual store. You pick your kimono, hair accessory, and little bag. They pick your shoes for you. The kimono rental is for the whole day (until 6). There is an English speaker. They have additional accessories and other options for an additional cost. Wouldn't recommend on a hot day, so be mindful in the summer that you will feel super warm in your kimono (I'm not sure how it is in the winter.) Everyone there was very kind and we're doing their best to get me dressed quickly. They will change you extra of you are too tall or overweight, as the kimono standard size is for the average japanese person. It's a bit hard to walk in the kimono and shoes. As for the rickshaw ride, it was amazing. I felt bad about the Kai, (the name of our "driver") pulling us around due to the heat. It was a wonderful experience though. He did his best to convince us to pay for a longer ride, but it's kinda pricey (not in a bad way because he is literally pulling you around in a little cart and it was very hot. There is also no tipping in Japan, so the price makes sense). He took amazing pictures, and was very knowledgeable about the area. I would definitely recommend this experience and would come back for another rental.
Amazing staff, exceptional service and personal care. The garments were beautiful and comfortable to wear. It was a pleasure meeting them and would highly recommend anyone who wishes to try traditional fashion.
Beyond our dreams. Kai was amazing he took incredible pictures so we will have vivid memories. From getting dressed to the ride it was an experience not to be missed
Thank you for using our service. While preserving traditional Japanese style, we will continue to incorporate modern styles and make further efforts to ensure that everyone is pleased.
The experience itself was fun and exciting. Getting ready was a different story. The dressing process is rushed and the operators don't speak much english. The kimonos are sized small, so most Americans can expect to pay 2,200 yen extra. The plus size selection is very limited, not colorful or as pretty as the other assortment. I am 5 feet and 130 pounds, so I didn't expect to be charged extra. When I asked why I was being charged, it was indicated that I could take the kimono off if I didn't want to pay extra. No mention of a refund had I done that. However, if one is hippy, curvy, busty, plus sized or tall, you will pay extra. This information should be more explicit and transparent in the description along with the ride time. The ride itself is 12 minutes and additional time is extra. The rickshaw drivers were very friendly and pleasant. The rickshaws are narrow if you are hippy or wide. It can be cramped with two people. You don't get brought back to the starting point, but several blocks away, unless you get and pay for extra time. There are two photo ops and you get to rental of the kimono for a period of time is included.
Thank you for using our service. At our shop, you can experience authentic kimono at a very reasonable price. It's different from wearing clothes. Kimonos are made in standard Japanese sizes, and larger sizes are custom-made. Whether or not you need a larger kimono depends not only on your height and weight, but also on your bust, waist, and hip sizes. There are many stores that do not have large size kimonos in stock. You will be happy to be able to wear a kimono for an additional charge of 2200 yen. We want you to wear your kimono beautifully, so we offer larger sizes. If you don't mind wearing a kimono with an open hem and open chest area, please wear a smaller size kimono. You will feel very embarrassed. Also, please use it if you have a chance. Thank you
Very detailed promotion. It included everything, the rickshaw rides were strange but good and there was ample photography from this host.
The facility to dress up was very easy to find using the Asakusa subway line. It is visible from the subway exit. The people running the kimono rental are fantastic! Very professional and accommodating to our needs in terms of time frame and outfit selection. The rickshaw ride was great too. We would do it again! Thank you for a great experience and memory!
The extra 2,200 yen they required us to pay because we had large breasts was annoying. It felt like a ruse. The owner woman was very pushy, but her staff were lovely and the rickshaw driver was awesome.
I was really skeptical but after doing it I would highly recommend it as part of visiting Japan. The location is a bit tricky to find, accessed by the alley next to a hotel. The staff is really nice and friendly...as long as you follow their instructions. They dress you up completely, there is really nothing you need to do. They have a lot of different and pretty kimonos to choose from but you may need to pay extra for some of them. The rickshaw ride was really good and the "driver" was very friendly and gave us several options on routes. We had a booking for 11am and had up to 6pm to return the kimonos, so it gives you plenty of time to experience it, which is more than enough time considering that it can get quite uncomfortable after a coule of hours.
Great experience. The kimono dressing was quick and efficient. The people at the shop were amazing with my 5 yr old daughter.
Thank you for visiting our store. We are very happy to see the lovely young lady and her mother wearing kimono. Please come again when you come to Japan. The photos we took have been sent to you via email. ( asakusa.hanaka@gmail.com ) please check. thank you very much.
I loved this experience so much that I would do it again if I'm ever lucky enough to visit again. My daughter and I had so much fun. They will carefully dress you, step-by-step. I go quite the education, I had no idea so much went into wearing a kimono. They will wrap you up the right way! Lol. Then you pick a cute bag and they even give you wooden slippers. They even dressed our hair with flowers and trinkets. They were not as uncomfortable as I thought they would be. Just a side note, I wear a US-Medium, Size 6-8 and I am considered "plus size" so there was an extra charge for that. Also, my shoe size is Women's 8.5, that is considered "large" here so there was an upcharge for a bigger pair of slippers. So I did end up paying more than what is advertised here. They take pictures of you and send to your phone. Next is a rickshaw ride thru the streets then we got dropped off at Senso-ji Temple. Our rickshaw riders were so awesome. We enjoyed exploring Senso-ji Temple and shopping in all the cool little shops located there. Everyone kept asking to take pictures of/with us. We felt like princesses for a day. They really did a great job. Take note of the street location bc the place is kinda hidden, we got a little lost trying to find the place to return everything by 6. We loved all the ppl that worked there, very pleasant, friendly folks. We would 100% recommend this experience.
