Two of the three bikes were in good condition. Third party bike was disappointing. We had a good price for a day but that was more luck than wisdom. Other providers who ended up with the same bikes landlord were twice as expensive.... Pretty weird.
Well organised, good location for Central Park and a fun 2 hours exploring the Park. The bikes were in good condition and it was a good value way to spend time being active.
We walked to the bike shop from the InterContinental Barclay and retrieved our bikes quickly. Received friendly and fast service at the bike shop. I had a basket added to the bike to carry extra items. The bike shop was only minutes away from Central Park and the 2 hours was a perfect amount of time to bike around the entire park. I recommend 3 hours if you plan to stop along the way. My niece took longer to return, since she biked around the park twice and the overage charge was reasonable.
We had Go City passes and this covered us for a four hour bike rental. However the info given on the pass neglected to mention that insurance is extra. The pass also said that bikes can be returned to any of 7 locations - not possible when the first location keeps your ID until you return the bike. The bikes themselves were fairly well maintained although on mine the brakes were all or nothing (resulting in some very sudden stops!). The staff were very friendly and helpful in making sure the bike was set up properly for you. Biking Central Park is the easiest way to cover the most ground. We comfortably managed 2 laps of the perimeter loop cycle path within the four hours.
Located very close to Central Park. We rented 4 bikes to visit the park. We opted for 5 hours rental ($35 USD) and it was definitely worth it. We walked the park from one end to the other in no hurry. Arrive in the morning to avoid the crowds. The bikes are nickel confo and the padlock is included. There are good hills to climb so for less fit people opt for the electric bike!!
We picked up our bikes from one of the other Bike NYC stores that was more convenient to the subway as we were melting in the heat! The staff were brilliant, no problem that we weren’t where we should have picked our bikes up. They were friendly & helpful, giving us tips for sightseeing. We each got locks and I asked for a basket. My daughter was offered a helmet. I read one or two negative comments online about this company but I would definitely recommend them based on our experience
Going through Central Park on bikes is great !! Some hills though, so make sure everyone in your group can handle a day of biking. We also biked around the city - which was a new, and interesting, experience. The bikes we rented were pretty beat-up though; this place definitely doesn’t do a lot of maintenenance.
Do not rent from this location (117 West 58th) off of 6th Ave. Save yourself the headache and the bad service. The first time we rented e-bikes at Central Park, we went to another place and had no issues. The second time we rented e-bikes we ended up here and 2 out of the 4 bikes malfunctioned. Chain fell off of my son's bike about 10-15 minutes after we started and the gears didn't work on my husbands bike. We tried to fix the chain but it fell off again shortly after. So we had to walk the bikes back. The man (perhaps manager) that we spoke to was rude and made it seem that it was our fault. We were not able to get our money back. The other nearby rental location requires a refundable damage deposit when booking their e-bikes and this place does not. Now I understand why. I wish I had read the reviews before walking into this rental location. Seems to be a common issue. I hope we prevent others from experiencing the same problems.
Bikes were great, lock and basket included. Using Viator we spent around $50 CAD for 2 bikes (full day). This is much cheaper than the price you pay when you’re at the location! They keep your ID until you return your bikes. Only one negative thing to mention was that prior to arriving in NYC it was mentioned to us that we could ride until 8pm however once we rented the bikes they told us it’s only open until 6pm. In any case, we saw all the sites we wanted to see with enough time. Recomended!
Quick in and out after booking through Tripadvisor. Good bikes. Yeah. They're asking for bail or leaving ID.
