This tour is ideal for those who want to take advantage of every minute in Costa Rica, discovering some of the country’s nocturnal wonders in a night hike. We will begin our tour in a small town known as La Tigra, located just 30 minutes from La Fortuna. Once we arrive, we will take the trail in to a small patch of rainforest in the process of regeneration with some mirrored lakes, which facilitate wildlife observation. You can expect to see species like nocturnal birds and mammals, insects, amphibians, bats, and more.
The trail will go around the mirrored lakes to the frog sanctuary, which is an area dedicated to the regeneration and natural reproduction of frog species. Here you will discover a large amount of species such as the dart frog and the bull frog, the smallest and largest species in Costa Rica, as well as the spectacular Red Eyed Tree Frog, and the beautiful Glass Frog. After the tour, a delicious Costa Rican dinner prepared on a wood burning stove will await us. We will enjoy our dinner viewing the lights of the valleys of San Carlos. Our guide is so knowledgable , and friendly! She was thw best guide for me. I learned about tree frogs and me other critters of the night. The host family prepare delicious traditional Costa Rican meal over wood burning stove. The property was beautiful. I am grateful they shared it with us! I highly recommend this tour!
There were only a handful of frogs to see and the flashlights were dim. The second part of the walk was in the woods and there was hardly anything to see. It was very far from our hotel and took almost an hour to get there. However, the guide was knowledgeable and the meal provided by the family was good.

Our transportation was clean, the guide was very friendly. The private property where the tour takes place is very beautiful. Just be aware that this is not a jungle hike. This is a short walk in the small wooded area and around small ponds of the property. Wildlife seen is mainly frogs. Dinner was very good.
The bus was very punctual, and the ride was around 30 minutes from La Fortuna. It’s a very pretty ride over to the families gardens and jungle. The home is beautiful and the family is so nice. The views are fantastic. We saw so many frogs, bullet ants, and even a sloth! The dinner was amazing! It is local from the families estate and it’s organic and sustainable. It was a good small group and not over crowded. There are hand made souvenirs, but they aren’t pushy. And the souvenirs themselves are very beautiful.
Jocsan & Beto drove us out to La Tigra and then showed us the grounds where we saw all kinds of wildlife: frogs of all kinds & even a sloth! The rain almost made it better because all of the frogs come out when it rains. Good thing I bought a poncho once we got there! The three course dinner (soup, entree, dessert) was also amazing. We had a good time sharing photos in the car ride back. Would definitely recommend 10/10
Had a delightful night walk. Mainor our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and pleasant. They picked us up at our hotel and toured us on a night walk. We saw a tremendous number of frogs. Had a lovely dinner prepared by a local family. Overall a great experience.
This was the perfect thing to start our vacation in CR. We arrived in La Fortuna at 3:30 and started this tour at 5. Diego was our guide. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the things we were seeing. The tour was small and intimate...only 5 people all together. Diego found lots of frogs and insects for us to see. Dinner afterwards was amazing! It was a traditional meal served by the friendly people who lived on the property. We had a great time and highly recommend this tour!
Such a fun experience. We were able to see many frogs throughout the night. Our tour guide Valeria was great, she was well educated on the types of frogs and environment. We were able to end the night with a great home cooked meal that was delicious. I definitely recommend to anyone traveling to this area!
By far the best tour on our trip. Cyndy was incredible. She was so knowledgeable and kind, we loved listening to her share about all the animals we saw- and we saw a lot. Food was delicious! Highly recommend this tour.
