At home, a pastry board, the flour and the wind will be the simple ingredients to make our Orecchiette. A lovely evening learning all about the food in Puglia and how to cook it. Simona was great! We learned how to make different pasta shapes and another traditional dish, cooked and ate it - delicious! We were also given a tour of a Trullo and told its history. I would recommend this experience
Simona was so knowledgeable and passionate about Puglia /southern italys cooking. She shared her passion and enthusiasm with us all and helped us create an amazing experience /meal. So much I learnt and that I can use again when I go home! Woukd definitely recommend. She even took time to explain the Trulli house history.
A very nice day with people from all over the world. Learned a lot about Italy and Italian cuisine and had a nice lunch.
This was an amazing cooking class. It was very rustic in a traditional style home with trulli. Simona was so welcoming and generous. We learned so much during the class about the history of Italian food in Puglia and other regions. Simona is so knowledgeable! She even gave us a tour and history of the trulli home. We walked around her garden too and learned more about the herbs, fruits and nuts growing. We made fresh pasta and learned different shapes and varieties. We also learned to make the traditional Apulgian meat roll. The food was so delicious and plentiful. We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone who would like to learn more about Puglia and Italian food. It was simply incredible, Simona is amazing! This was a real highlight of our holiday and one of the best cooking classes we have done. Don’t forget buy Simona’s book too. It’s great reading and has great recipes too.
We had a wonderful time with Simona for the cooking class at her home. We learnt lots of interesting facts about Puglia and pasta, and had a lot of fun preparing our lunch with her. We have done cooking classes before but this was by far the most authentic. It's also a great chance to see inside a trullo as well! This has so far been the highlight of our trip to Puglia - highly recommend! Thank you Simona!
Get ready for an entertainig cooking class seasoned with curious stories about culinary traditions, all along side with a deep immersion into italian hospitality
Simona, the host, is very kind and warm. She explains everything with passion. Everybody visiting Ostuni needs to experience her cooking class! This was our second time. Next time we visit the region we will book for a third time.
I attended Le Orecchiette, che pasta with my partner on 10th June and it was just an all round fantastic experience. We arrived at the host's beautiful trullo home in the Puglian countryside and were shown through to her garden where we seated around a large shady table with 5 other guests. For the first 30 minutes we simply chatted and sipped on coffee spiced with chilli and cinnamon and snacked on homemade biscuits. Simona, the host, then gave us a highly enjoyable interactive lesson on pasta and the Italian rules around how it should be served before we proceeded to the cooking. Some of the elements of the meal were made by Simona and her assistant but most of it was done by ourselves. We learned how to make pasta of various shapes (the focus of course was on Orecchiette) and two traditional Puglian sauces whilst enjoying rose and red wine and water. In the time that things were cooking, we were also given a tour of the trullo and learned about its history. The meal itself was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic. Simona was warm, knowledgeable and had an excellent sense of humor. The trullo was beautiful and Fig the cat was a particular highlight! Overall this was enjoyable, memorable, felt very authentic and also was excellent value for money. I would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys Italian food or is interested in cooking.
We had a great day with Simona and learned a lot about pasta and its preparation. She is a fantastic and very warm host; we felt at home right away and would come back anytime! It was an absolute highlight of our trip.
Informative and very welcome by Simona. You get to have a nice afternoon surrounded by the quietness of nature.
