According to legend, the islet was made over the centuries by local seamen who kept an ancient oath after finding the icon of Madonna and Child on the rock in the sea on July 22, 1452. Upon returning from each successful voyage, they laid a rock in the Bay. Over time, the islet gradually emerged from the sea.[4] The custom of throwing rocks into the sea is alive even nowadays. Every year on the sunset of July 22, an event called fašinada in the local dialect, when local residents take their boats and throw rocks into the sea, widening the surface of the island, takes place.
According to the presumptions of the archaeologists, the first settlements appeared in the area of Perast in the Neolithic; There are also monuments of the Illyrian, Roman and early Christian periods. The city was founded by the Illyrians, named after one of the local tribes—Pirusti. The first memories of Perast refer to 1336—at that time there was a small fishing village, which had a shipyard, and there were always several commercial and fishing boats in the harbor. But since the strategically important island of St. George, which belonged to Kotor, is in the immediate vicinity, the development of Perast was going very slowly.
Located in the UNESCO protected Bay of Kotor, Porto Montenegro combines a spectacular lifestyle destination with a world-class, full-service marina and luxury residential village offering premium real estate for sale and rental in this part of the Mediterranean. Complementing the waterfront residences and impressive 450-berth marina is an international retail and dining scene, with world-class gastronomy, elegant bars and bistros, as well as an array of sports, leisure and cultural amenities, bringing together established international brands and local businesses. A dynamic mix of over 80 retail units encompasses fashion and accessories, day spa and hair salon, yachting services and amenities, and of course, quality F&B outlets, giving the destination a year-round appeal.
During the period of the Venetian Republic rule, the island was known as Rondina. The island has a fort, built in 1853 by Austro-Hungarian general Lazarus von Mamula. The fort takes up about 90% of the island's surface area. Along with the fortification on Prevlaka's Cape Oštro as well as Arza fortification on Luštica's Cape Arza, both of which were erected at the same time also on suggestion by general Lazarus von Mamula, fort Mamula was part of the Austro-Hungarian Army's contingency plans of preventing the enemy entrance into the Bay of Kotor.
People are classifying it as a natural jewel of the Mediterranean due to its natural origin. It is one of the largest in a series of caves in this peninsula, created at the foot of the 30 meters high cliffs, and is a result of thousands of years of sea waves crashing on porous rocks of Lustica. The cave has two openings, a smaller one on the south side and a larger one that’s 3 meters high and 15 meters wide, located on the southwest side. The larger opening enables entrance for barges and smaller ships into the cave, allowing tourists to witness the wonderful play of light in the waters of the Blue Cave. This natural hall, with a 9-meters-above-sea-level vault, is a unique stage for one of Mother Nature’s wonders that will leave visitors breathless.
Dobrec beach (Dobreč plaža) is a small gravel beach, 70 meters long. It is located in the bay. Those who like private space will enjoy the beach. Since it can be reached only by boat or sea taxi, it is uncrowded. Besides beauty and privacy, there are all conveniences: sun loungers, umbrellas, changing rooms, shower, WC, pier, cafes and sea rescue service.

Wonderful time. Aleksa was a great guide and personalised our tour to perfection!
Absolutely excellent in every regard. We took a boat from the airport to Perast. The boat was waiting for us, despite us being late due to luggage not making it onto the plane, and communication with Jovana was suberb and very quick. Impressed by the service we booked a private tour a couple of days later that delivered everything we asked for. I would thoroughly recommend Sea Tours.
Fantastic trip with friends! Captain Roko took us all around Boka Bay and found the best spots for snorkeling despite the temperamental weather that day! He was like part of the goup. It was great afternoon out. The organiser Jovannah was always responsive to my questions and also agreed to an hour’s extension coordinated with the Captain. Would do it again for sure. Thanks all!
Be careful! Their information on website is wrong! And then they add fuel! Even though it says it’s included. They they say it’s a mistake on the website!
Hi Karen, first of all, you never joined our tour. Your review is therefore not based on any actual experience with our service. You contacted us to ask for the price, and we provided you with the correct price before any booking was made. It was entirely your decision whether to book the tour or not. Since you chose not to proceed, you were never charged anything. Claims about extra fuel charges are simply false and do not apply to your experience because there was no tour and no payment. We kindly ask that reviews reflect real experiences rather than assumptions or inaccurate statements, as misleading reviews are unfair to both businesses and future travelers.
Great trip. Nicely driven speed boat just enough information

Our group of 5 had the best time on our full day boat tour with skipper Roko! He made great suggestions for itinerary based on what we wanted (a mix of relaxing/swimming and sightseeing). We started at the Blue Cave, had a great lunch at a recommended restaurant where Roko made reservations for us, did a walk through Perast and had many swim stops along the way. We booked for 8 hours and didn’t want the day to end! Jovana was wonderful and communicative throughout the booking process. Highly recommend Sea Tours for your Montenegro boat excursion!
Thank you so much for your amazing review! We're thrilled to hear that you had such a fantastic day on the water with Roko. It’s wonderful to know that the itinerary was tailored to your group’s preferences and that you enjoyed the Blue Cave, Perast, the swimming stops, and the restaurant recommendation. We'll be sure to pass your kind words on to both Roko and Jovana—they'll be delighted to hear them. It was a pleasure helping you create such a memorable day, and we truly appreciate your recommendation. We hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable boat adventure in Montenegro!

We were very interested into the sveti Stefan and wanted to go there. When being there; the skipper wanted to have more than double the price and wanted to take advantage of the situation of being on an island. It was horrendous and the skipper (Marko) became very suddenly unfriendly. This is not how you should treat guests. We were stuck on the island because we did not wanted that service. We found another way of commuting. Please do not take those scammers and take rides with generous and honores people
it was wonderful! the professional driver who showed the bay was on time and very friendly. my family and I had a lot of fun! I recommend a tour with Sea Tours!!!
