Bring water!!!! Pompeii was more than we expected. Our guide was very thorough in her explanations and not pushy. Pompeii involves a lot of walking, not sure how the Romans did it in leather sandals!

Driver and Guide option: Your driver will pick you up from your Naples hotel, the Naples railway station or the Naples cruise terminal at your selected departure time and take you to Pompeii, located about 30 minutes away. Here, you’ll be greeted by your private guide and given an introduction to Pompeii. On your 2-hour visit of this famous archaeological site, you’ll learn about what happened here one fateful summer’s day in 79 AD, when Mt Vesuvius erupted and volcanic ash spewed over the entire city. Unaware of the imminent danger, most people continued on with their daily lives and, as a result, the entire town and around 20,000 of its inhabitants were buried under tons of ash and pumice. Nearly 2,000 years later, you can explore the site of this infamous disaster and see first-hand the houses, streets and public buildings miraculously preserved by the volcanic ash. Your private guide, an expert archaeologist, will take you on a private tour of the excavated city, which offers a snapshot of 1st-century Roman life frozen at the moment Pompeii was buried. Explore fascinating sites such as the forum, the thermal baths, several houses and villas, the Lupanare brothel and the House of Vetti with its beautiful frescoes. After your visit to Pompeii, you’ll have some free time to explore more on your own before hopping in the car and heading back to Naples. Driver Only Option: If you prefer to explore the Pompeii ruins independently, the transport-only option offers private round-trip transportation from Naples and lets you spend time in Pompeii on your own. Your driver will wait for you while you wander around Pompeii for a couple of hours, and then take you back to Naples. There is also an audio guide available (additional cost).

Pompei Private Tour
Great experience. Our guide, Roberta was amazing and we loved the private tour. We chose the 2 hour private morning tour which seemed to be a good choice as it got busier later in the day. We would have liked more time to explore after the private tour as there is so much to see.

An awesome tour guise and driver!!!!
Our driver was very good and communicated with our tour guide so that she met him right at our car. The tour guide was very friendly and knowledgable, even snapping pictures of us for us and taking extra time for us as they had a special market there that day. Then she walked us right to our drivers car. We had a wonderful time and learned so much!

Rushed Tour
The ride to Pompeii was the normal European drive... swerving and braking but the van was in a very bad need of new shocks, I think I lost a kidney. The tour was fast and informative as we usually like, but this one was a little too fast...it felt very rushed to the point of we finished an hour early. We would have liked to stop for water and souvenirs but we're rushed to return to the ship/port. Overall it was ok.

Guide was fantastic
Our guide was fantastic! 5 stars to her!! We were given a meeting point but our driver was given a different meeting point. I couldn’t get the tour operator on the phone but Viator was able to contact them & have the driver sent to our location. This cost us about an hour in Pompeii which was disappointing.
