Private Tour: Anchorage 3-Hour Tour

If you're visiting Anchorage for the first time, I cannot recommend Greatland Adventures highly enough. Our four-hour private sightseeing tour was one of the highlights of our Alaska vacation, and our guide, Bill, made it truly unforgettable. From the moment he arrived, Bill's professionalism was evident. He was right on time, the van was spotless and incredibly clean, and he had bottled water and snacks waiting for us. Those little touches immediately set the tone for a first-class experience. What really made the tour exceptional, however, was Bill himself. His passion for Anchorage and for the great State of Alaska was absolutely contagious. He didn't simply point out landmarks—he shared fascinating stories, local history, wildlife information, and personal insights that brought every location to life. His enthusiasm was infectious, and by the end of the tour we felt like we had spent the afternoon with a proud Alaskan friend rather than just a tour guide. The itinerary was outstanding. We visited many of Anchorage's most iconic locations, including: Earthquake Park, where we learned about the devastating 1964 Good Friday Earthquake. Lake Hood Seaplane Base, the busiest seaplane base in the world, where watching aircraft take off and land was fascinating. Beluga Point, with spectacular views along Cook Inlet and the surrounding mountains. Potter Marsh, where we enjoyed beautiful scenery and opportunities to observe Alaska's incredible wildlife. Flattop Mountain / Glen Alps Overlook, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Anchorage, Cook Inlet, the Chugach Mountains, and, on a clear day, even Denali in the distance. One thing we especially appreciated was that Bill never rushed us. We stopped numerous times to get out of the van, stretch our legs, take photographs, and simply soak in the incredible beauty that makes Alaska so special. The four hours absolutely flew by. This wasn't just a sightseeing tour—it was an education about Anchorage, Alaska's history, its people, and its remarkable natural beauty. If you want to truly understand Anchorage instead of simply driving past it, ask for Bill. His knowledge, professionalism, warmth, and genuine love for Alaska made this one of the best guided tours we've ever taken. Five stars isn't enough. Highly, highly recommended!

I learned new tidbits about Anchorage despite visiting there numerous times in the 90’s and after. I enjoyed how the trip was planned but slight changes were made to match the audience and weather.

Everything about this was wonderful! John was very knowledgeable if so many aspects of Alaska. Having never been before, was able to learn about the Earthquakes, the private airplanes, the mountains, it was awesome. He was able to personalize the trip to what I was interested in seeing.

Great tour! All 9 members of our group (from young adults to seniors) enjoyed the tour with guide Tim. He was very informative and answered all our questions. Tim texted before our tour to confirm the time/location and showed up on time. Would highly recommend this tour for a short, informative tour of Anchorage. It was perfect for our free day in Anchorage after our cruise and before our evening flight home.

Waste of money and time. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, but the tour was nothing to write home about. Don’t waste your time and money and maybe just rent a car and drive around instead.

My group of 12 had an evening departure from Anchorage and we were looking for something to do to pass the time so I booked a private tour with GREATLAND ADVENTURES. Wow, did we hit the jackpot with Jonathan! He was amazing, so knowledgeable, personable and wanted to make sure the tour included our interests. Fantastic Tour of Anchorage - our tour guide, Matt, was excellent! He catered to our group - answered all of our silly questions. We were able to spend more time at the places that we wanted to explore. We were a group of six of different ages and mobility abilities and this tour was perfect.
