SUSHI MAKING CLASS in TOKYO 咲 -EMI
Meeting point
It's a building with a large sign marked 'A.' The classroom is on the 2nd floor.

Description

Join a private workshop led by a sushi master with experience at a Michelin-starred restaurant. With fully bilingual staff and private settings, every detail will be shared personally with you. Our sushi master brings over five years of sushi-making experience, including time at a Michelin-starred restaurant. His approach is rooted in precision — adjusting slicing angles, pressure, curing, and aging techniques with a scientific eye, stripping away the unnecessary to let each ingredient speak for itself. As the seasons shift and each fish's condition changes, so does his method. We invite you to explore the craft of sushi through the eyes of a master.

Great sushi birthday experience!

Our family truly enjoyed this sushi making experience! It was insightful learning the history of sushi in Japan. Our daughters loved it and were able to make some very delicious sushi! Unlike my girls, I'm a sushi novice, but still had fun trying to keep up with them. The team made it a fantastic experience!

Fabulous sushi-making with master chef

We just enjoyed the most fabulous experience learning to make sushi with a master chef. Along with the chef, they had two very friendly guides that assisted us in making sushi. They had perfect English and were very easy to understand, and were extremely friendly & welcoming. We had a group of seven ranging in ages from 9 years old to 49, and they made the experience very fun & engaging. Our family frequently enjoys sushi at home in California, and now our kids will have a much deeper appreciation for what goes into making beautiful, delicious sushi. We would highly recommend this experience to friends & family!

Operator response

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are truly happy to hear that your family enjoyed the sushi-making experience with our chef and guides. It means a lot to us that guests of all ages — from children to adults — were able to have fun together and enjoy learning about Japanese sushi culture. We are especially honored to hear that your children gained a deeper appreciation for sushi and the craftsmanship behind it. Comments like yours are incredibly encouraging for our entire team. Thank you again for joining us during your trip to Japan. We hope to welcome you and your family again someday!

Amazing experience!

Had an amazing experience here which lasted around 2 hours. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable and provided great instructions. The kitchen setup was amazing to see and experience and provided a great atmosphere. The food was great and it was interesting learning about a different form of sushi than westerners are typically used to. I couldn’t recommend this highly enough, the food was great and the host/translators English was perfect and answered all of our questions. We opted to include a Sake tasting menu and the sake recommendations were also great as well as the explanations on the different types of Sake. I would recommend checking out the location in advance on Google maps as it was a little hard to identify the correct building as we couldn’t see a sign on the outside but that could have been us missing it. While on the more expensive side of some of the Sushi experiences that we saw online Must do experience and couldn’t fault it!

Operator response

Thank you so much for your detailed and thoughtful review! We are truly happy to hear that you enjoyed the entire experience — from the sushi-making and sake tasting to the atmosphere of our kitchen and the conversations with our staff and guides. It means a lot to us that you found the experience both enjoyable and educational, especially learning about traditional Japanese sushi styles that may differ from what is commonly experienced overseas. We are also very glad you enjoyed the sake tasting and our team’s explanations and recommendations. Thank you as well for your valuable feedback regarding the location and building signage. We sincerely appreciate you pointing this out, and we will continue working to make it easier for future guests to find us smoothly. We understand that our experience may be priced higher than some other options, so hearing that you felt it was worthwhile truly means a great deal to our entire team. Thank you again for visiting us during your trip to Japan. We hope to welcome you again someday!

Good sushi experience

I had a wonderful time making sushi. And ate a lot types of fish so it was fun to try different ones. The price is good there was rare fish. I was there talking making eating for one and a half hour. There was two men, one was the sushi master and his translator. The atmosphere was warm. The space was big. I was there alone, but I think it’ll fit 5 to 6 people. Thanks for the experience. It was wonderful.

The Best Sushi Making Class in Tokyo!

The sushi making class with Toma and Riku was absolute blast. We started off with a history of sushi which was a nice way to learn more about the craft. We then got into the hands on part, where chef Riku showed us how to make sushi rolls and nigiri while Toma translated it for us. They are a fantastic team and were very welcoming. The class has a max of 6 people but on this day it was just my wife and I which made it even more personal. However, while some sushi classes can have up to 20 people, even having 6 people would make it feel intimate and personal which we really sought for. They walked us through each step and by the end of it, we had a great meal using their delicious fish as well even paired it with some sake. Since there are many sushi making classes to choose from, I wanted express just how much of a delight these two were to learn from and highlight that if you’re seeking something more intimate then look no further. We thoroughly enjoyed meeting them and learning from them and even took them up on some of their restaurant recommendations. 10/10 experience and would book again!

Operator response

Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We're thrilled you and your wife had such a great experience with us. We're glad the history lesson set the stage and that the hands-on portion with Riku's guidance and Tomo's translating! made for a memorable day. Now that we've moved to fully private sessions, we can offer that intimate, personal atmosphere to everyone. It was truly a pleasure meeting you both and sharing our passion for sushi-making. We hope our restaurant recommendations turned out well too! With gratitude, EMI Team
