Itinerary
Xochimilco is one of the most emblematic places in Mexico City and a World Heritage Site. In this experience you will sail aboard a colorful traditional trajinera for about 1 hour through its canals surrounded by chinampas (floating islands). During the tour you can enjoy live music (mariachis, trios or marimbas), buy cravings, flowers or crafts from other trajineras, and soak up the festive atmosphere that characterizes it. It is a time to relax, take unique photos and live a centuries-old tradition. Our guide will explain the origin of this site and answer any questions. An ideal activity for all ages, perfect for those looking for a connection between nature, culture and the living history of Mexico.
After the ride in Xochimilco, we will move to Coyoacán, one of the most beautiful and traditional neighborhoods of Mexico City. Our guide will take you on a walking tour to discover its cobblestone streets, squares, colonial churches and spaces full of art and culture. You will know the history of this iconic place, its famous characters, and you can visit its famous market where you will find crafts, books, typical sweets and dishes such as toast, churros and hot chocolate. Plus, you’ll have free time to take photos, explore on your own, or just relax on one of its colorful benches. Coyoacán is the cultural heart of the south of the city, with a bohemian and welcoming atmosphere that will make you feel like in a small town within the big city.
We finish with a very special stop in front of one of the most visited places in Mexico: the Frida Kahlo Museum, also known as La Casa Azul. This tour includes an outside stop so you can take a photograph in front of its iconic cobalt blue facade and learn about Frida Kahlo’s life, her home and her artistic legacy. If you just want to take your picture and listen to the guide's explanation, the estimated stop time is 15 minutes. In case you want to enter on your own, you must have a previously purchased ticket, and the tour inside the museum takes about 1 1/2 hours. Admission is not included in this tour, but our guide will be able to guide you if you decide to return another day. An ideal stop to bring you a unique memory of the most iconic Mexican artist.

Great experience! Super convenient and we had the loveliest tour guide. PSA you have to buy the Frida khalo ticket separately.
It was very well-paced. There was adequate time allotted for each stop so that we didn’t feel hurried. Pedro was a wonderful guide - interesting, knowledgeable, helpful, and great company. We will recommend Pedro to anyone we know who visits Mexico City.
It was amazing loved my tour guides! RAFA Y MARI were the best! So humble and caring 😌
The tour was amazing, I recommended for Families with kids. It was a really good 6 hrs. Of tourist, shopping and we even had the chance for churros and cocktails. Pedro Rivas was amazing guy and tour guide. You’re going to learn a lot about the historic of Xochimilco and Coyoacan from Pedro. Pedro is a 5 star tour guide
Our guide, Rafael, was punctual and knowledgeable. We enjoy learning about history and culture and he definitely shared both along the way. He was also attentive to our needs and was flexible as my mom wasn't feeling well. The tour itself met the expectations as described in TripAdvisor.
From pick up at our hotel to drop off Pedro provided a fantastic experience providing insight to local customs and lifestyle. We thoroughly enjoyed the boat tour at Xochimilco and free time at the colourful market and San Juan Bautista Cathedral in Coyoacan, followed by a quick stop at Frida Kahlo's Blue House. Thanks to Pedro for provided a most enjoyable day. We highly recommend this tour.
Pedro was our driver and he was great! Our large group of 10 had a wonderful time and he was a delight. He also helped us manage the ordering for everything we needed and all our extra bathroom stops. The trajinera ride was a lot of fun and they even helped us get a trajinera customized with our birthday boy’s name. Would recommend!
Pedro was an excellent guide I enjoyed the canal tour and the walking around coyoacan Very comfortable car and we had a good chat on the wag
I had a great tour of Xochilmilco and Coyoacan. Pedro was a great English speaking guide with knowledge of the history and legend of the area. Would highly recommend
Transportation to and Fro Xochimilco was convenient, but that’s about it. This was the most boring tour I ever went on Viator. I’ve booked multiple trips on Viator and this is the worst so far. I learnt nothing about xochimilco, Coyoacán or Frida’s house on this trip. Please don’t book this trip if you are truly wanting an informative guided trip.
Hi Toyosi, I hope you are doing great! I´m so sorry to hear about this inconvenience but please take into account that you chose our basic plan and we brought you a private tour. The trajinera man and our operator tried to give you all the information about the zone but it was difficult to them you didn´t put attention in the explication, maybe you weren´t in the mood. However you were antipathic to our operator and we didn´t know about what was the problem with our operator or our service. Again we are so sorry for this inconvenience and that the tour wasn´t as expected for both of us. We will improve to avoid this ratings in the future and manage better this difficult situations.
