The tour was great and our guide was very informative. I am happy I chose the tour because if I would have driven myself I would have missed a lot and the roads were very curvy. Our guide took us to some very nice places.

One of the most sought-after and scenic drives in the world, you will be amazed at every turn on our Private Road to Hana Tour. Fully enjoy the stunning views, and let our experienced drivers lead you on an unforgettable journey. Swim in a waterfall at Puaʻa Kaʻa, try legendary banana bread at the Keʻanae Peninsula, catch some sun at Hamoa Beach, and marvel at the sea turtles at Ho’okipa Beach Park. In between, our guides will show you around the eclectic surfer town of Paia, take a family portrait under a massive Rainbow Eucalyptus tree, see the unbelievable beauty of Koki Beach, and learn about the historic and beautiful communities of Wailua and Hana.
A surfer town with tons of character, Paia is the perfect way to kick off your journey to Hana. If your group needs a little energy boost, we can stop at one of the cafes in town and grab a round of coffee. Alice is Hululand is the perfect spot to grab a funky souvenir, or find out what tasty tropical fruit is in season at Mana Foods!
One of the most awe-inspiring views on the Road to Hana, look out over the tranquil village of Wailua and the vast ocean beyond. Facing Haleakela, you are treated to a panorama of the Ko'olau Gap, a densely forested valley stretching as far as the eye can see towards the crater. See how many waterfalls you can count cascading down the valley walls!
A stunning black volcanic rock shoreline that juts out into the powerful waves of the Pacific is the backdrop to a glimpse of the Maui's past. Here in Keʻanae, the traditional method of loʻi kalo (wetland taro) agriculture is still practiced. Enjoy a loaf of the famous Aunty Sandy's banana bread (as featured on National Geographic's Uncharted with Gordon Ramsey!) while you watch and listen to the thunderous waves breaking on shore.
Looking to cross "swim in a waterfall in Hawaii" off your bucket list? Now's your chance! With not one, but TWO gorgeous waterfalls that have natural pools ideal for swimming, you can take a dip in cool, refreshing water flowing straight from the slopes of Haleakela. For the adrenaline seekers in your group, there is also a safe spot to cliff-jump at one of the waterfalls here!
By now, your crew has probably worked up quite the appetite! Luckily, there are several dining options in Hana and outside of town. For fantastic wood-fired pizza topped with veggies grown right on-site, Hana Farms is a great stop for both lunch and picking out fresh organic produce. There is also a food truck park in town with several options, Braddah Hutt's BBQ Grill just outside of town, or the Hana Ranch Restaurant if you feel like soaking in an ocean view with your meal. After lunch, we'll load up and take your group to Hana Bay, where you can enjoy a great view of Hana Town, and hear about the fascinating history of this area.
Witness the jaw-dropping beauty of ‘Ālau Island, a seabird sanctuary dramatically battered by waves. Enjoy the view while strolling along the pockets of red sand beach, and look out at Leho‘ula sea arch back towards town. Uncle Russell's Huli Huli Chicken, as featured on National Geographic's Uncharted with Gordon Ramsey, makes an excellent plate lunch to be savored at a picnic table looking out on this gorgeous landscape.
An absolutely beautiful beach that is perfect for body-surfing, Hamoa Beach is nestled within a ring of cliffs overflowing with greenery. Soft sand runs all the way into the crystal-clear water, so the whole family can enjoy the waves without worrying about rocks!
A memorable end to your day of adventure, Ho’okipa Beach Park has one of the best views looking out over Northshore Maui at sunset. Watch the surfers catching massive waves at one of the most famous and sought-after surf breaks in the world. And then for the wildlife-lovers of your group, this is a terrific spot to see Green Hawaiian Sea Turtles! They love to congregate in a corner of the beach right underneath a platform ideal for viewing and snapping a few pictures.

The tour was great and our guide was very informative. I am happy I chose the tour because if I would have driven myself I would have missed a lot and the roads were very curvy. Our guide took us to some very nice places.
Nick was a great guide! My husband and I had the best day exploring the journey to and from Hana. We learned so much about the island and are so glad we spent the day on this tour!
Eugene was fantastic and made the day a wonderful experience for our group. He got us close to items of interest, was extremely knowledgeable about the area, plants and wildlife and the history of the area. Our trip was 2 days after the storm Lala occurred and yet we were still able to see and do almost everything we wanted. The area was without power in some areas but the sites were beautiful and breathtaking. A small group experience is definitely the way to see the road to Hana!
Aloha Barbara! Thank you so much for the positive feedback! I am glad your crew enjoyed the day out- Hurricane Lala definitely added some wrinkles to the day. In the end it was a memorable day out and the stoke level stayed high! Mahalo nui loa, Eugene
Nick was a super friendly and very knowledgeable guide. We hit the popular spots including a spot to swim in a waterfall pool. We visited a red sand beach and a lava tube. We had a snack stop for warm banana bread, lunch at some food trucks in Hana, and a dessert stop for a Dole whip. He also knew where all the bathrooms were and we never seemed far from one when needed. He also interacted very well with our autistic son.
Aloha Andrew! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review! I saw your feedback on Google also- doubling up is a huge boost to our visibility. I am glad you had the chance to explore Hana with Nick...you couldn't ask for a better guide for the day our. I hope we have the chance to show your family the magic of Maui again in the future! Mahalo, Eugene
Highly recommend Road to Hana with Travis! Great day sightseeing and learning the history of Maui. Travis is very knowledgeable of the different plants/trees, animals, and Hawaiian culture.
Aloha Kathy! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review- your recommendation means a lot! Exploring the Road to Hana with someone as knowledgeable as Travis is definitely an extra special experience. Thank you for choosing to book with us, and I hope we hear from you again in the future! -Eugene
Amazing private tour to Hana! A must do!! We had an awesome day today with Eugene! He showed us some of the most beautiful and unique (non-tourist) spots. We will remember this trip forever!
Aloha Claudia! That was a particularly memorable tour for me as well- I had a blast with Michael & yourself! Great conversation throughout the day, and the island really put on a show for us. I am glad the two of you were game to check out the backside and you enjoyed those off-the-beaten-trail spots. Mahalo nui, Eugene
If the Road to Hana is on your list of things to do in Maui, why not sit back in a spacious and clean SUV and let Nick do the driving. The day we spent with Nick felt like sharing our trip with a very knowledgeable, fun and personal friend. Nick and Ohana tours communication before and during our trip was seamless. We saw everything on the itinerary and actually added a couple things. Nick and Eugene, the owner of Ohana Tours, are extremely helpful and willing to modify an itinerary to suit your wants and needs. This is truly a "private" tour and only includes the people in your group. Book today, you won’t be sorry!
Aloha Jill! It makes my day when I get feedback this detailed & enthusiastic- thank you for taking the time to share! A few of the things you mentioned specifically are the focus of our crew. Making our guests comfortable and feeling like old friends, as well as the chance to customize each day, are both huge parts of the Ohana Tours Maui experience. Mahalo nui loa, Eugene
This was an amazing experience for our entire family and I highly recommend it!!! Travis was the best guide, and the coolest part was how the day was adapted to our family as Travis got to know us. The communication before and during was everything you would hope for when you are looking for a customizable, 5 star experience. I had been to Maui before and always wondered about the Hana experience. We brought our 8, 11, 14, and 15 year olds and they all said at the end of our trip that this was their favorite day of the entire trip! We loved the balance between car time and getting out to explore. It’s an incredible way to experience the beauty of the island from amazing trees (which we loved learning really cool details about from Travis), waterfalls, caves, and beaches. They provided everything- towels for after we all jumped a waterfall, all kinds of waters and snacks. Super flexible stops if a kid needed a restroom, changed their mind about a food truck, or wanted to listen to their music playlist. We did all wear ear patches before to help with any motion sickness and didn’t have any problems. We had other family members I recommended to also book with them and we will absolutely do this again bc there are so many different places to stop and explore!
Aloha Bridgett! Thank you so much for the kind words and detailed review. I really enjoyed hearing about the day out in person too on the drive back to Ka'anapali! I could tell the whole family was absolutely buzzing about the day out. We are fortunate to have Travis as part of the team, a long day on the Hana Hwy is much more comfortable with someone as thoughtful as him. Thank you for recommending us to your family, and I hope we have the chance to share more of the island with your crew in the future! Mahalo, Eugene
This was the most amazing experience! The owner Eugene picked us up at our hotel, and took us to the office where we met our tour guide, Travis, who was amazing. A full day private tour getting to do what we wanted how we wanted! Travis was so friendly it was like touring with a friend, he got to know what we liked and took us to the most beautiful places plus food stops that fit our preferences! The price was unbeatable for such a custom experience, highly reccomend this to anyone looking for a private tour for a good price!
Aloha Tara (I'm guessing this is you!), I really appreciate the review, hearing such positive feedback keeps me fired up about what we do! Travis is an incredible guide, hearing it felt like touring with a friend is exactly the kind of vibe we hope to share. Look us up again the next time you are visiting Hawai'i! Mahalo nui, Eugene
I have no words really, although we did see everything on the description, it was basically a driving tour with many winding roads. Hana itself was nothing to see. Black sand beach wasn’t a beach as one might expect, it was lava rock and really no place to swim. Although tour guide was knowledgeable, we felt his driving was a bit erratic at times and he took us to places that were closed. Waterfalls were not swimable. Wasted 8 hrs in a car was the end result. It would have been much better renting a car and going on our own. If you are considering the road to Hana, rethink it. It’s in our opinion a wasted trip.
