Private Mezcal Tasting in Mexico City

This mezcal tasting was one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico City. Super authentic, fun, and full of stories you would never hear anywhere else. The hosts made everyone feel welcome from the first minute!

The hosts were honestly amazing. Super friendly, passionate, and incredibly knowledgeable without making it feel overly academic or intimidating. They explained everything in a way that was fun and engaging, even for beginners. I came away understanding not only mezcal, but also so much more about Mexico City and its culture.

A Hidden Mezcal Experience You’d Never Find on Your Own This was one of the most authentic experiences we had in Mexico City. The hosts were incredibly warm, professional, and genuinely passionate about mezcal and the city itself. What made this so special was that they took us to a small private place where it was just our group, surrounded by rare bottles we never would have discovered by ourselves. It felt exclusive without being pretentious. We learned more in one evening than we could have learned in weeks on our own.

The Best Introduction to Mezcal You Could Ask For I honestly thought mezcal and tequila were basically interchangeable before this experience. The hosts completely changed that for me. They explained everything clearly without overcomplicating it, and their enthusiasm was contagious. The night felt warm, authentic, and incredibly well curated. This was one of those experiences that makes you appreciate a city on a much deeper level.

The moment we arrived at the private tasting location, I knew this was going to be different from a normal mezcal tour. It was intimate, beautiful, and filled with rare bottles I had never even heard of before. The hosts guided us through everything in such a fun and approachable way. You can really tell they care about creating an experience, not just serving drinks.

I expected a simple tasting and maybe a little history. Instead, this turned into one of the highlights of our entire trip. The hosts were engaging, funny, and deeply knowledgeable without ever sounding rehearsed. At one point I realized I had completely forgotten I was technically on a “tour” because it just felt like a fantastic night out with great people.

Everything was organized beautifully from start to finish. Since everything was included, we didn’t have to think about logistics, payments, or where to go next. We could simply enjoy the tastings and conversations. The experience felt smooth, intimate, and very thoughtfully planned.

Worth It for the Mezcal Alone — But the Hosts Make It Exceptional The mezcals were outstanding, especially the rare ones we tasted in the private location, but what really made the night memorable were the hosts. Their energy made everyone feel comfortable immediately. By the end of the experience our whole group was laughing, sharing stories, and acting like we’d known each other for years.

We tasted 9 different mezcal's with JC. He is super knowledgable and willing to share his knowledge in a fun and friendly setting. We learned a lot and left with two bottles. Best is we have a foundation to continue our exploration of distilled agaves and mezcal.

This review is way overdue! My partner and I had an amazing time with JC, who is knowledgeable, friendly, and very chill! I enjoyed the tasting even though I’m not a huge mezcal fan. The courtyard where we sat outside was lovely and quiet. Another woman who worked at the shop led the tasting as well, she was great! We ended up buying some of the mezcal we tasted, and JC was kind enough to walk us to another shop to find some more. Highly recommend this private tasting!
