Private Ephesus Shore Excursion from Kusadasi Port

This was the fourth time I did this tour or similar to Ephesus in Turkey. The tour on 26 September 2026 which included a visit to the Statue of Virgin Mary, to Ephesus and to the another single standing column was really not very good. Ephesus was, as always, wonderful but the group my wife and I were in was rushed through the ancient site far too quickly. Only 90 minutes to see the wonders there. Hardly time to take a breath. The additional cost of this rushed visit to Ephesus was an utterly unnecessary visit to a leathergoods factory where it was suggested we spend positively extortionate amounts of money on leather jackets and stuff. Am I alone I wonder in thinking that a 45 minute stop at a leather place was quite out of character with the wonders of ancient Ephesus? No, I didn't think so. The 45 wasted minutes should have been added to the main event at Ephesus. And the tour altogether from Pythagorio on the island of Samos cost $AUD400 for my wife and I. Terribly expensive and really not good value especially considering the leather factory scam. My three previous tours to Ephesus from Samos with other family members were much better.

Ephesus is a must-see wonder if you come to Turkey!

Begum was an excellent guide. We especially enjoyed Ephesus. Definitely a must see. I was surprised to learn so much Christian history about Ephesus. Interesting to find out that perhaps 80% of the ruins are still covered and unexplored.

The excursion started in Samos. By ferry we crossed to Turkey. The Aegean is a calm sea. It also works for more vulnerable seasick people. Everyone was on time and the pace of the tour was very pleasant. Efesos is very impressive! “Luckily”, the city of alla Pompeii was torn away by a disaster. That saved her from the fate of serving as a quarry. Which you can't say about the Temple of Artemis. It was on the whole very nicely seen everything, the family of the travel companion got to know. Which is naturally happy if you buy something from them. However, if you listen to the Greek travel companion “don’t buy overpriced things” you can try a few things without being pressed and pull out.

We sailed to Kusdasi from Pythagpreio. Samos. Our Agency "Regina" had arranged our Tour in Ephesus with Oceanos Travel.
