History lesson in DC with hidden gems

The tour was great! Alan was incredibly knowledgeable. He told us the history of each place we visited and shared constantly as we toured. There were so many hidden gems that we didn’t know about before, even though we visited DC before. We love history and asked for our tour to focus on that and Alan sure did, going way above and beyond. He even took us into congress in session so that we could see the process and talked about the history of that. This was the best tour we have been on!

Alan is extremely...

Alan is extremely knowledgeable about history and encourages questions. He turns what could be boring history into really interesting stories. This was particularly good for our group, which included two teenage kids. He was great about engaging them throughout the tour. We also loved that we could fully customize the tour to our particular interests. This is in no way Alan's fault, but it was in the 90's the day of our tour, so we were all wilting by the end of our four hours together. Having resided in DC myself, I know that DC is an impossible town to park in. You definitely will have to do some walking in between monuments but Alan does a good job of strategically parking so you're closet to the car on the way back, when you're wiped out. We would highly recommend Alan. He is knowledgeable, entertaining and thorough!

10/10

Alan was a complete delight! This was our second tour with him, and we all had so much fun. Our group of 6 had grandparents, tweens, and middle aged-millennials, and everyone was fully entertained the whole day. We asked for something off the beaten path and he totally delivered. Alan orchestrated every detail from pick up to drop off. You don’t have to worry about a single thing! He arranged every bit of our day from our itinerary to tickets to what to eat, and he knew so many stories about the places we visited!! He even carries water bottles around for you! Full service! Booking with Alan is a no-brainer. Can’t wait for our next tour with him!

Funny, Inspiring, Educational, and Fun!

Touring with Alan was the best decision we made! It took our short trip to DC from overwhelming to outstanding! Alan made it super easy to organize key stops and encouraged my son (9 / first time to DC) to share his thoughts and questions at every stop. From ease of travel around DC, Arlington, and the Air and Space Hanger in Chantilly, Alan made 2 long days unbelievably fun, inspiring and educational. From his knowledge, stories, and jokes, we laughed our way through miles of monuments and memories! Truly a worthwhile experience to add to your first or 10th time visiting DC.

Worth it. Recommended for families.

Family of 4, including one 8yo and one 11yo. First-time tour-takers of Washington, D.C. There are many options available but if remotely in your budget, I would highly advise securing a tour with Concierge/Alan to make it easier on yourself to navigate the requisite logistics of your visits, get the most of your time, and learn about whatever interests you most during your visit. It's worth it. Our kids said it was the best part of their Washington, D.C. stay, and were able to remain reasonably engaged and entertained throughout the full-day tour. They especially enjoyed the trivia questions. Recommended for families.

Highly Recommend Private Tour with Alan!!

We booked a full day tour with Alan and enjoyed every minute of it. Alan contacted us immediately after booking to plan our customized tour itinerary which, for us, included the National Mall National Archives and Arlington National Cemetery. He also secured passes to the newly opened undercroft at the Lincoln Memorial. Alan is a wealth of knowledge and pointed out so many of what he calls “Easter Eggs” or special bits of information. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with Alan and will definitely book him again on our next trip. Highly Recommend!

The convenience and special attention to detail made the experience top notch! Thank you Alan and see you again next year. Beth & Sandra

Excellent day excision with Alan!

Excellent day with Alan! He worked with me on an itinerary a couple of months before our trip and at the last minute Alan adjusted our day as I requested. Alan related to our family of 3 with huge age differences. A 14 yr old and 2 grandparents! He is full of knowledge and interesting trivia. Alan is attentive to the needs of the group for all ages. He is entertaining as well. Kept everyone on their toes. We hope to see Alan again on a future trip.

What a wonderful tour guide

We did a tour with Alan on July 3rd 2026 in the middle of a 100 degree plus heatwave and had the BEST time. Communication from Alan began months prior to the actual tour as he built us a tour based on what we wanted to see, visit and do. Excellent communication from the start. He picked us up at our hotel at the specific time we agreed upon. He drove us in his persobal vehicle, a clean, comfy, roomy air conditioned car. We visted Arlington Cemetery where he took us to specific graves we wanted to visit as well as other intetests there. We spent the other half of the day at Mount Vernon, whete he was obviously well known to the staff there. He knew that property like the back of his hand and pointed out things to us nobody employed there did. We had lubch at Mt Vernin as well. He had a backpack cooler filled with ice chilled bottles if water that he offeted through the course of the day and provided heat shielding umbrellas as well. Even when just driving to the destinations, he pointed out places of interest, told us stories, gave us facts and trivia. At the end of the tour, we feel like we have gained a friend and from here on out, any trip we make to DC, he will be our guide. He was funny, smart, helpful, passionate, patient and knowledgable. His love and knowledge of American History was evident and customer service exceptional. This tour, although expensive, was worth every penny and we got exactly what we paid for......his undivided attentiion .He truly customizes the trip to what you want to do and see. Thank you Alan!
