Private Anne Frank & WWII Amsterdam Walking Tour

Description
Learn more about the events that shaped Amsterdam during the Second World War, on a thoughtfully paced walking tour ending at the the Anne Frank House. Together, we will travel back to the Amsterdam of WWII and explore the impact of the Nazi occupation on the city and its people. Visit places where resistance began, difficult decisions were made and everyday life was permanently altered. See sites linked to the February Strike and the Dutch Resistance, along with memorials dedicated to those who lost their lives during WWII. Later, the tour moves west towards the Anne Frank House, where you'll hear Anne’s story within the broader context of occupation and daily life. We’ll see the Westerkerk, the outside of the house where Anne and her family hid for more than two years, and the beautiful Prinsengracht. At the end of the tour, you can make an unguided visit to the Secret Annex and Anne Frank Museum. We can help you obtain tickets for the Anne Frank House, subject to availability.

First of all, be very clear – this is a walking tour not something that’s actually done at The Anne Frank Museum. In addition, you need to be very vigilant in regards to any changes that the company Viator may want to make to your reservation -especially 24 hours or less prior to the scheduled paid event. Viator changed not only the date, but the time and location of original meeting place. Very disappointing as being very unfamiliar with the Amsterdam and expecting clients to track down the tour guide.
Hi Jack, I'm sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the tour you received. The tour description very clearly indicates that this is a walking tour, and that it does not enter the Anne Frank house. We had reached out to you several times via email, Viator chat portal and text over the 7 days prior to the tour to inform you that the tour you were booked on was not going ahead, and to offer you alternative time slots. We also took several calls from Viator on your behalf on the Friday and Saturday to make alternative arrangements for you. The start location for the tour was never changed; it's a fixed route tour, so that always stays the same. The guide was exactly where they were supposed to be, as stated on your booking and confirmation information. Perhaps you had more than one tour booked and mixed up the details? I would also like to add that we gave you an upgraded version of the tour you originally booked. The tour you paid for was a 2 hour walking tour, and we gave you the 30 minute virtual reality experience for free as that was the 10am tour we moved you onto.
Highly recommended. The VR brought Anne’s story to life. Sophie was so knowledgeable. Go!

Thank you! We really were happy to have you on the tour.
Our tour guide Kaleigh was amazing! She is so knowledgeable about the history of Amsterdam as well as the history leading up to WWII. I learned so much and was able to ask questions throughout the tour.
Thank you, Gina! We also enjoy Kaleigh's stories about Anne Frank.
We had a very informative tour with our sympathetic guide Barney, who told us about Amsterdam in addition to the life of Anne Frank. So the tour was varied and the severity of the subject well to take. For me and my 12-year-old daughter a perfect alternative to the Anne Frank house as I was late for tickets. The VR glasses were a first for both of us and something special again.
Thank you! Your kind review means a lot to us.
Wonderful tour guide, Kaas. Lots of good information which we hadn't heard of before and able to walk along some of the canals.
Thank you, Dennis, for your compliments!
Really enjoyed this tour, Barney was very knowledgeable. Answered all our questions, nothing was to much bother for him. Would recommend 100 per cent. Thank you Barney
