Description
Explore the Yorkshire Dales National Park, but with a particular focus on the countryside and locations used for filming the new All Creatures Great & Small TV series starring Nicholas Ralph in the lead role of Yorkshire Vet, James Herriot, first shown on Channel 5 in 2020. You will have photo stops in Barden, Malham, Arncliffe, Hawkswick and Burnsall and a longer stop in Grassington, used as the main filming location for "Darrowby". You will also have the option to visit the award-winning World of James Herriot Visitor Attraction in Thirsk to see where Alf White (the real James Herriot) lived, worked and wrote his series of books, based upon his experiences as a young Yorkshire Vet. If you do want to visit the World of James Herriot, we will take you there first in the morning as it sets the scene for the rest of the tour. If not, you can spend the additional time enjoying more of the Yorkshire Dales - the choice is yours and can just be agreed with your Driver in the morning!

Perfect trip for an All Creatures fan
Our guide, Martin, was outstanding. We were looking for a history of the Yorkshire area, coupled with our love of the writings of James Herriot . Our tour took us through several of the sites where the current PBS show is filmed, and we were able to eat lunch in the charming town of Grassington, which serves as the fictional Darrowby. Lots of anecdotes, beautiful vistas, opportunities to wander the areas we were hoping to. Martin even was able to provide us with suggestions for our drive northward the next day.

A local’s Yorkshire Dales knowledge shared
What a delightful experience! Our guide, Chris, was superb! He is a native of the Dales and actually grew up next door to the actual vet’s home in Thirsk. He knew Alf Wight (James Herriot) personally. We saw the beauty of the Dales, filming location for the “All Creatures…” series and got additional local history along the way. Chris was so patient with our questions and a font of local wisdom. We highly recommend it!👍

If you love James Harriott, you gotta go!
Had a wonderful time even with the not so nice weather. We didn't do the movie set part as we were not interested in fiction - only the real Harriott history!
What could have made it better? To meet his children - now adults, so we could tell them what their Dad did for us!

Fabulous day!
We had an absolutely wonderful day! Chris was a charming, informative and gracious host. He paid attention to our interests and made this a very, very special day. Even if you’re not a fan of the show, the countryside was breathtaking. Cannot recommend this highly enough!
