Itinerary
Your journey begins at the charming Marina da Afurada at gate D, where our friendly crew will welcome you aboard a luxurious sailing yacht. After a short safety briefing and introduction to the vessel, you'll be invited to relax and prepare for an unforgettable sunset experience along the Douro River.
Set Sail – From Afurada to Porto's Riverside Cruise gently upriver while enjoying panoramic views of Porto and Gaia's riverfront. Along the way, you’ll pass the picturesque Farol de São Miguel-O-Anjo, one of Europe’s oldest lighthouses, and get a unique perspective of the Arrábida Bridge, an engineering marvel connecting both riverbanks.
As we approach the heart of the city, marvel at Ribeira do Porto, known for its colorful facades, historic charm, and vibrant riverside life. Glide past the Alfândega do Porto (the old customs house), now a prominent congress and exhibition center, rich in architectural detail.
On the opposite bank, admire the legendary Port wine cellars and listen as our guide shares the story of Porto’s world-famous wine culture. Sail under the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge, an iron masterpiece designed by a student of Gustave Eiffel, offering a breathtaking view of both cities from below.
Continue westward toward Foz do Douro, where the river meets the sea. Here, the landscape opens up to reveal the vast Atlantic Ocean. As the sun begins to set, enjoy a signature cocktail on deck and soak in the golden-hour beauty of the coast.
As evening falls and city lights shimmer on the water, we gently sail back to Marina da Afurada. Before parting ways, our crew will share insider recommendations on where to eat, drink, and explore in both Porto and Gaia. A perfect end to an unforgettable sailing experience.

What can you say, a fantastic experience. Great hosts, I believe it was Hugo. A great local man from the courage valley. The timing was perfect a small group we met on the yacht and it was a good mixed group. We sat on the prow with some Australians and had a ball. The wine was flying g and my wife was happy. The snacks were great and gluten free. The hosts were so good nothing was to much a d a great level of banter and comedy was had. The sunset was worth the trip and it has left memories to last a lifetime. The marina was easy to find and if you were early there is a great roof top restaurant just outside the marine towards Porto that is a great stop as well. I would recommend the experience as you will be well looked after and the smaller group size greatly amplifies the experience. It's a must do really and the difference between day sailing and sunset cruising is very worth the wait. They provide great seating and rugs if you feel the wind which after the heat of the last few days were not needed.
Hugo was a great guide on this experience. Gave 1:1 attention to each group of travelers without overdoing it. We had good weather and were able to wait in the ocean for the last of the sunset. It was beautiful!
We loved our sunset trip with Hugo. He is very friendly and informative. We were very comfortable on the boat and enjoyed a lovely glass of ‘green wine’ It’s a lovely way to see Porto and was the highlight of our four day visit. Would highly recommend!
Excellent trip with a wonderful host. Very cordial atmosphere with glasses of port wine and bites onboard Recommended! The only problem is : it is not a Sundowner trip as the time is late afternoon and not the proper sunset time! Be careful about the meeting point - you’ll be in for a surprise at the distance from Porto! Little communication from Viator as they lend it to a third party
Literally the best sunset tour ever! The guide is so nice. Views are unreal! Highly recommend it! Loved it!
Hugo and Captain Rodrigo made the entire experience so much fun! They are incredibly welcoming, pleasant, and full of great energy, which made the whole trip feel special. The views of the city from the water at sunset are breathtaking, but it was their fantastic hospitality that truly set this experience apart. I would highly recommend this to anyone traveling to Porto—it was easily one of the highlights of our trip!
Hugo and the captain are fantastic. They are extremely kind, ensuring everyone was comfortable and going above and beyond to ensure a positive and enjoyable experience. Thank you for a wonderful time!
The skipper, Ricardo, and group tour lead, Hugo were absolutely FABULOUS! After a lovely ride where blankets and jackets were provided for those who needed, along with beverages and mixed nuts, it was a FULL event tour. Highly recommend! After the tour, Hugo even called a taxi for us to help us get home. Such a wonderful group and tour!
