Pioneer Courthouse Square
Pioneer Courthouse Square, located in the heart of Downtown Portland, is a public space hosting more than 300 programmed events each year. With more than 26,000 people visiting the Square each day, it is the single most visited site in the city. The Square’s features include the Waterfall Fountain, built of granite; sixteen columns with classical pillars topped with carved yellow roses on which crawl pink-and-green spotted bugs; and two brick amphitheaters which provide seats for events.
International Rose Test Garden
One of the city’s signature landmarks, located in beautiful Washington Park, Portland’s largest official rose garden is home to more than 10,000 roses including 650+ rose varieties. From May through October, you can stroll amongst the lovely blooms, breathe in the delightful smells, and enjoy the spectacular views of downtown and Mount Hood.
Pearl District
Loading docks and cobblestone streets hint at this former warehouse district’s past, while stylish bars and gleaming lofts point toward the future. The Pearl District was formerly occupied by warehouses, light industry, and railroad classification yards and now noted for its art galleries, restaurants, upscale businesses, and high-rise residences along with lofts that were converted from warehouses.
Northwest (Nob Hill)
The neighborhood surrounding stylish Northwest 23rd Avenue offers an abundance of terrific shopping and choice eats. In the Northwest neighborhood (also known as Nob Hill or the Alphabet District), century-old Victorian and Craftsman-style storefronts housing unique boutiques stand alongside national retailers, interspersed with coffee shops and on-trend restaurants and bars. Powell's City of Books
Powell’s City of Books is the largest used and new bookstore in the world, occupying an entire city block and housing approximately one million books. Located in downtown Portland’s Pearl District, the City of Books has nine color-coded rooms and over 3,500 different sections, offering something for every interest, including an incredible selection of out-of-print and hard-to-find titles.
Providence Park
Built by the Multnomah Athletic Club in 1926 and acquired by the City in 1966, Providence Park Stadium is known today as home to the Portland Thorns and Portland Timbers. This historic stadium hosts about 150 events per year, including professional sports games, concerts, youth camps and business events.
South Park Blocks
This 12-block greenspace stretches north from the campus of Portland State University, serving as a front yard for residents and businesses of the Cultural District. The park hosts vibrant community events and programs for Portlanders and regional visitors throughout the year.
Tom McCall Waterfront Park

Health and Hydration: Tours can be physically demanding. Stay hydrated and carry any necessary medications; plan for breaks when needed. What to Do if Lost: If you get separated from the group, do not panic. Stop walking and wait right where you are. Call our tour company phone at 503-896-2464. For emergency call 911. Walking on Uneven Terrain: • Technique • Scan the path: Look ten feet ahead. Do not just look at your feet. • Short steps: Take small, slow steps. • Flat feet: Place your whole foot down. Do not just walk on your toes or heels. • Go slow uphill & downhill Safety & Hazards • Watch for water: Wet rocks, moss, and mud are very slick. Walk around them if you can. • Never run: Speed causes trips and twisted ankles. Snow & Ice: • Don’t cross in front of snow removal equipment (snow blowers, plows, etc.). It’s safer to cross behind. • Observe extreme caution when entering and exiting vehicles. Warm soles on compact snow/ice increase the risk of slip/falls. Use the vehicle for support. • Watch out for black ice, wet floors/stairways and overhead/ falling hazards (icicles or snow/ice on sloping roofs and in trees). • Never attempt to drive or walk on carpet, tile, stone, or ceramic surfaces while wearing Yaktrax. Take them off before driving or entering a building! Plants and Animals: Do not touch any plants or animals. Touching them is dangerous for you and for them. Animals carry germs and diseases. Plants can cause rashes or allergic reactions. • Do not approach or follow wildlife for a “better look.” • Observe wildlife from a distance so they are not scared or forced to flee. • You are too close if your presence or actions cause wildlife to alter their normal habits. Water: Never drink raw mountain water. Even clear streams hide dangerous bacteria, viruses, and parasites like Giardia. Animals use the water upstream, and you cannot see germs. Informative but a bit too long
Our tour guide, Phoebe, was very knowledgeable about every section of the City of Portland. As a first time tourist visiting for just a few days, I found that the breadth and length of the tour was way too much. One and one half hours would have been plenty of time to cover the main sights in the city, and to help us map out where to visit later. The three hour tour delved into tons of minutia and covered all six major neighborhoods (quadrants) around the city, which would be great for someone looking for a new place to live, but not so much for a visiting tourist. Hope this helps.

One out of 3 ain't bad.
Excellent of all 4 tours since my 5 day stay thus far. I've even toured more spots than all the others. It was worth the price, and the driver was extremely knowledgeable, kind, command of the vehicle, and the city.

Afternoon tour of Portland
The driver took us through the many quads of Portland, for 4 hours with stops at 2 rose gardens and one snack. It was great we had a hotel pickup.

Drive around portland
We were picked up at our hotel, which was really great. The tour guide knew his way around Portland, but we left not knowing a lot about the history. Drove through every quad. Saw where Chinatown was, but no Chinese. Drove by Powells books. Talked about the transit system being built instead of highway. Saw lots of homes with views of the woods or oceans. Stopped at 2 rose gardens and an area to get snacks, one rose garden too many. Needs more meat, for 4 hours!
