Plovdiv walking tour
Great way to learn more about the amazing city of Plovdiv. Our guide Martyn was speaking perfect English and was very knowledgeable about the architecture, buildings, churches and ruins of the old town. I just wished the tour could have covered a bit more ground in the two hours, we were only moving around in a 500m circle when there are so many more great places in close proximity. Also a very big group size for the price.

Better to do the visit on your own.
Plovdiv is a pretty town. Rila, our guide, was not the best. The explanations from the other guides I heard were more extensive and better. We really would have preferred to do it on our own and visit some house and some museum. The free time remaining is insufficient if you also want to eat, even if it is something quick.

Bus ride way too hot! (32C)
The return bus ride was uncomfortably hot.
After boarding the bus in Plovdiv, the temperature inside the bus was 32C/90F.
30 minutes later, and after being on the road for 20 minutes, the temperature had only dropped 1 degree to 31C.
Texted the operator at +359 89 440 4141 and got no response.
I do not recommend this inattentive operator.

Characteristic city to see.
Beautiful trip to Plovdiv two days after the one to the Rila Monastery.
We visited the second Bulgarian city, a little gem of art, architecture, and history. The historic center is characteristic, with ancient streets lined with Bulgarian Renaissance-style buildings. The ancient Roman ruins are also to be admired. Desi's explanations were impeccable, very well-prepared and very kind on every occasion.
A thank you also to the driver. The bus was comfortable and air-conditioned.
