Guided by Timothy Trouche, an eighth-generation Charleston native and third generation Charleston tour guide, you will learn the unique history of the pirates who plagued Charles Town in its early days, the many patriots who defended the city over the last three centuries and how prohibition shaped the way of life in Charleston in the early 20th century.
Share in Tim’s hometown knowledge of the city’s rich history while enjoying charming views of the Charleston harbor, cobblestone streets, buildings and monuments that date as far back as the late 1600s.

This was a great tour,...
This was a great tour, even at night. Our guide was a veritable font of information and very enthusiastic about his subject. A daylight tour would allow you to see more of the details but it was interesting seeing things lit up at night too. This is a great tour for history buffs.
Operator response
I’m so glad you enjoyed the tour! It was a beautiful evening for a stroll and I hope you will tour with us again. I do have daytime tours that can cover more area as the city limits where we can go at night.

Amazing tour, packed with tons of history.
Timothy is an AMAZING tour guide. This was one of the best things that we have done on our Charleston trip. He was packed full of so much information, and historical information that was new to us, and not heard anywhere else. I would totally recommend him and his tour. It was completely worth it.

Perfect Evening
Timothy was passionate about his city and very knowledgeable about both the history of the city and its context within US history. Make sure that you tell him if you are British ;) The evening tour is limited by city regulation to the wharf/French Quarter areas, so do not expect to see “South of Broad” homes. Timothy adjusted the tour to accommodate our 8:00 dinner reservation at Poogan’s Porch and it was a lovely taste of Charleston for our short stay.
