Kek Lok Si Temple
Admission included120 min
During the British colonial era, the Chinese community in Penang flourished, practicing their faith with devotion and building many grand temples—some said to rival, if not surpass, those in China. One of the most renowned is Kek Lok Si, often described as the largest Buddhist temple complex in Southeast Asia, resembling a spiritual theme park. Built in 1985, visitors can learn about Buddhism, Taoism, and Confucianism while exploring its beautifully crafted pagodas, vibrant lanterns, intricate statues, and peaceful gardens. Don’t miss the breathtaking view of George Town from the temple grounds. As the locals say: “You haven’t been to Penang unless you’ve visited Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si.”
Penang Hill
Pass by
Penang Hill, is a popular tourist destination known for its cool climate, panoramic views, and rich biodiversity. Rising 833 meters above sea level, it offers a refreshing escape from the tropical heat below. Accessible by the historic funicular railway, the hill features attractions like The Habitat, colonial-era buildings, temples, and viewing decks overlooking George Town and the Straits of Malacca. Its lush rainforest is home to diverse flora and fauna, making it ideal for nature lovers. Penang Hill also plays a role in conservation efforts and promotes eco-tourism through sustainable practices and educational programs.
Pass by
Penang’s Harmony Street, officially known as Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling, exemplifies Malaysia’s multicultural harmony. Drive along this single street to see four major religious landmarks stand side by side: start with St. George’s Church (Christianity), then Goddess of Mercy Temple (Taoism), followed by Sri Mahamariamman Temple (Hinduism) and then the Kapitan Keling Mosque (Islam). This close proximity of diverse places of worship symbolizes Penang’s long-standing religious tolerance and cultural coexistence.
Armenian Street
60 min
Lithuanian artist Ernest Zacharevic is leaving his mark with beautiful wall painting of children all across historical Georgetown. The artworks are funny, fascinating, and very much open to everyone’s interpretations. Drive around Old George Town to see and snap a photo or two of magical street arts created by Ernest like “Children on Bicycle”, “Boy on Motorcycle”, “Dinosaur” and “Climbing Wall” or other artist's work like "Reaching Out", "Children on Swing" and Children and basketball".
Chew Jetty
60 min
Busy, scenic destination featuring a traditional village of rustic houses on stilts over the water. Stroll on the plank walkway to see how the locals go about their daily life on the jetty, take nice pictures of harbor view, iconic Penang Ferry and Penang Bridge and buy a trinket or two or slurp on cool ice drink in this hot and charming enclave.

Nice experience!
Our guide Josh was able to tell us a lot about the different cultures and religions during the visit to the temple. Super interesting. We were able to coordinate what we wanted to do on this private tour. Because we still had a few days in Georgetown, we chose to visit Penang Hill despite the weather. Unfortunately no view, but Josh could also tell a lot about nature and the development of Penang here. It is definitely good to visit it with a guide and the advice to buy Fastlane tickets was more than worth it.
Had a really nice tour and learned a lot about Penang. Real recommendation!!!
Operator response
Thank you so much, Bianca, for your wonderful review! Josh's delighted you enjoyed exploring Penang’s cultures, history, and nature with him. Despite the weather on Penang Hill, he's glad the experience remained enjoyable and informative. It was a pleasure tailoring the tour to your interests. Wishing you wonderful travels ahead. Cheers!

Well-paced, reasonable pricing and very informative guide (Jeff)
We throughly enjoyed our half day tour with Jeff this week. We already had sent him a message ahead with some ideas of what we wanted to see and what we had already done independently. He pulled together a varied and well-paced itinerary which took exactly 4 hours from the pick up. There was a god mix of driving to locations and then walking around a variety of sights - which we appreciated in the hot late morning su. Our itinerary included a number of temples, mosques, the waterfront and the UNESCO heritage centre. Jeff was able to answer all our questions and even found us an excellent cafe for a quick coffee stop near Lim jetty. We thought this was well-priced and best suits independent travellers who have done some initial research and have an idea what they would like to do. Note this is a private guided tour - you will not be sharing the experience with other travellers (a bonus!)
Operator response
Thank you Sean for the thoughtful review. We’re delighted you enjoyed the well-paced itinerary and Jeff’s guidance. Tailoring the tour to your interests while balancing driving and walking is exactly what we aim for. Glad the café stop near the jetty was a hit too. Stay safe and cheers!

The Best Way to Experience Local Culture
Ms. Goh is a gentle and attentive guide who put me at ease during my first trip traveling with my parents. She adapted the itinerary based on the weather and our wishes (we were eager to try local durian!), and gave detailed explanations of the differences between the temples we visited. We came away having learned so much. Highly recommend for anyone interested in local culture — Ms. Goh is always happy to answer questions!
Operator response
Thank you, Joyce, for your lovely review! We’re delighted Ms. Goh made your family’s first trip together comfortable and memorable. Adapting the itinerary, exploring temples, and even trying durian are all part of discovering local culture. Your recommendation means a lot, and we’re glad you learned so much with us. Have a nice day, cheers!

Fantastic Flexible Half-Day Escape in Penang!
Our family of four had a wonderful experience on the Penang: Flexible Half-Day Escapes tour. A huge compliment to our guide and driver, Mr. Law Hock Chye, who was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and very accommodating — especially since we were travelling with two seniors and a small baby. He tailored the itinerary perfectly to suit our group’s needs.
We especially enjoyed our visit to the Pinang Peranakan Mansion, and even though it was raining, the comfortable car tour around George Town allowed us to learn so much about Penang’s rich history. We also appreciated the stop at The Guan Yin Temple, where we could pay our respects and make wishes for family blessings.
Communication via WhatsApp before the tour was excellent, and Mr. Law even walked us back to the embarkation point for our return to the ship — such thoughtful service!
Overall, 5-star service from both the tour guide and the company. We will definitely book again when we return to Penang for a longer stay!
Operator response

It’s great to know the itinerary, comfort, and thoughtful touches made your visit memorable. We appreciate your support and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Have a nice day. Cheers!

Service with a heart :)
Our tour guide Lester was caring, enthusiastic & knowledgeable. He brought us to Penang Hill where our 3 & 1/2 year old son thoroughly enjoyed the furnicular ride up & down the hill. The views from the top were breathtaking! Along the way in our private car, Lester shared quite a few inside stories about Penang’s history with us. And we also saw some famous street art along Armenian Street. Thank you Lester! Highly recommended :)
