Panama Canal Jungle Boat Explorer Private Tour

Ivan picked up my 17 year old nephew and me in the morning for our adventure. I paid extra to be picked up from Dreams Playa Bonita because we’re not staying anywhere near Panama City, which is where the tour is supposed to begin. I am glad this was possible, as a jungle cruise sounded really fun but we’re at a somewhat remote location. From the beginning Ivan was personable and answered all my questions. Ivan had a cooler full of a variety of cold drinks from sodas, water and fruit drinks to beers and cocktails. We stopped at a fruit stand where we bought fruit for ourselves and Ivan bought some “for the monkeys.” The fruit was so delicious and extremely affordable. Next we stopped at a little market where we used the restroom and Ivan bought hamburger buns “for the alligators.” We drove through Gamboa and stopped at the dock where we met Ruben, the boat captain. I don’t think he spoke English, but he was very good. Ruben and Ivan know all the great spots where the animals are and after navigating past huge cargo ships (wow!) we were in the most beautiful jungle island paradise. Our boat went from island to island and we were able to see some amazing wildlife. We saw (and heard!) howler monkeys, green iguanas, various other lizards, capuchins, a variety of birds and it was so exciting and beautiful! The weather was great, but we could see dark clouds on the horizon. On our way back to the dock it started to rain hard but I couldn’t stop giggling because it was actually pretty fun, from the perfect weather to the sudden frenzy of the rain. A few minutes later we got back to the dock. There was a tarp to protect us, thankfully (also the boat had a top which helped). We got back into his dry, comfortable SUV and stopped at a lovely hotel to use the restroom again and take photos from a higher vantage point on the balcony. Ivan had warned us that the alligators come out in the sunny weather, so I didn’t expect to see any because the rain wasn’t letting up. But of course Ivan knew the perfect spot and we were able to see 4 alligators and many turtles from only about 10 feet away! Ivan and Ruben created a wonderful experience for my nephew and I to see huge ships and lots of wildlife up close and personal. It was a perfect day!

I had a fantastic early morning private tour on Lake Gatun with Eddie and Miguel. Both were excellent; knowledgeable, professional, and clearly very experienced. Eddie had a great eye for spotting the local wildlife and explained things clearly without it ever feeling forced or rushed. Miguel did far more than just handle the boat - he was constantly spotting wildlife I would have otherwise missed and positioning us perfectly to see it. At one point he even crossed the canal to get me closer to a female crocodile and her young, which was a real highlight. The whole experience felt relaxed and well-paced, with plenty of time to properly enjoy each sighting. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this tour to anyone visiting Panama - a brilliant way to experience the wildlife around the Canal.

This tour was Amazing!! We got to see 3 different types of monkeys, a rare crocodile sighting, iguanas and bats! If you enjoy animals and a little monkey interaction this is the tour for you!!

This was by far the highlight of our trip to Panama. We were staying at a resort in Playa Blanca, but had a rental car so we booked directly and just showed up at the dock. This was convenient and allowed significant savings compared to package tours with transportation included, and it turned out my wife and I were the only passengers! With less than 24 h notice, our reservation went seamlessly. Our guide/boat driver, Miguel, whose name and photo were emailed to us in advance, was waiting for us at the dock right on time. Despite it being the heat of the afternoon which may have made wildlife spotting more challenging, Miguel's trained eye allowed us to have encounters with all three of the endemic monkey species, a crocodile, sloth, and much more. It turns out that there is more than one "monkey island" as each species seems to inhabit a different one. The tamarin monkeys even clambered on to the boat, eager to look for food! The two hour trip flies by and is actually a combination of canal viewing and island hopping in calm waters. If you do one tour in Panama, this should be the one!

Our experience is 5/5. Mike took the time to talk with us at length and adapted the excursions to our needs. The guides are so attentive! I recommend Panama Bubbles to all!

An excellent experience with Captain Miguel, very friendly could receive us last minute. The tour lasted 2 hrs and we saw many animals and plants that he explained to us in detail, we also talked about the huge vessels that we had to see crossing the Channel.

From the moment of booking we had excellent experience. A day earlier they sent us the guide's details and even the photo of the van that searched for us by the hotel. Ivan, our guide was the best host we could touch. He guided us around Miraflores, lent us binoculars, assisted us with drinks throughout the tour and very clearly answered our questions. He and who operated the boat explained and showed us the beauty of Lake Gatun: vegetation, monkeys, iguanas, birds ... even a crocodile. In addition to passing near the boats crossing the channel. Super recommended!

Cost was reasonable for a 4 hour Trip. We saw tons of monkeys and birds while fishing. Miguel was really friendly and made for a super comfortable ride along the canal and lake. The boat can only hold four people, but we were the only ones on board, which made the whole thing even better!Being surrounded by monkeys and hearing their howls while fishing was such a unique experience.

We had an amazing time on this tour! We saw Monkey Island up close, caught peacock bass on Gatun Lake, and watched huge ships pass through the Panama Canal — all in one trip. Our captain was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience fun and relaxed from start to finish. The scenery, wildlife, and fishing made this one of our favorite experiences in Panama. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area!
