Great guide and experience!
Karla was a great guide, very informative and gave us plenty of time to enjoy the experience!

Conservation, awareness, and sensitization
It is very interesting, both for seeing the turtles lay their eggs, and for the very important work done by the trackers, volunteers, and guides.
It is great that someone many years ago believed in this project and changed the way of conserving this place and saving this animal species, in the face of capitalism, that is to say, there is capitalism in all of this too, but instead of killing the animals and the environment... you pay to conserve.

Unique & Awesome
The "Night Sea Turtle Nesting Tour" is a unique and must do awesome adventure.
Also AWESOME is having Carla as your guide. We are English speakers and Carla led our group of both Spanish and English speakers with ease. My wife had some mobility and balance issues navigating the beach in the dark, and Carla went above and beyond to ensure her safety as well as letting her get to enjoy the tour. I highly recommend Carla based on our fantastic experience with her!

Good experience.
The tour experience was very good, the guide was attentive, but the organization and coordination of the operator with the guide was quite poor.

a wonderful experience
What a great thing to do! getting so close to hatching sea-turtles is really amazing.
The excursions to the turtles are oragnized by the national park. You will be assigned to a certain part of the beach and join a few other groups to finally go to the turtles.
not extremely private, but still an amazing sight to witness!

Wonderful experience
Wonderful experience with Karla. We were the first to find a turtle and were able to see the entire process. In addition, Karla explained everything to us in great detail and answered all our questions. I would do it again without hesitation!

Night turtle tour 10/10!
It was an unforgettable and incredible experience! We loved the night turtle tour, since both my boyfriend and I care about and are very interested in animals. Karla was very professional, positive, pleasant, and had a lot of knowledge about the flora and fauna in general. If we had been there longer, we would have booked another tour with her. She deserves a 10/10, we recommend her 100%.

1 turtle vs 100 tourists
The egg-laying season is probably not the best time for the tour because you really have very little observation time, which, combined with the influx of dozens, if not hundreds of tourists per evening, makes it not such a memorable experience. Considering that there is not much else to see in Tortuguero, perhaps it was not an essential stop.

Thank you for sharing your opinion. I completely understand that the experience may feel different depending on the season and the number of visitors. However, it is important to understand that turtle nesting is a highly regulated activity precisely because sea turtles are endangered and their protection must come before tourism or entertainment.
The limited observation time is not a flaw in the tour; it is part of the conservation measures designed to minimize human impact on the turtles. Expecting longer or closer encounters simply for the sake of a more “memorable” experience would actually go against the purpose of protecting these animals.
Tortuguero is a destination centered around nature and wildlife, and besides the turtle tour, there are canoe tours, rainforest walks, wildlife observation and many other experiences. I’m sorry that the experience did not meet your expectations, but I believe it is important to appreciate that in a protected natural environment, the animals’ wellbeing should always come before the tourists’ expectations.

Dino was an excellent...
Dino was an excellent guide, he had a good system in making sure everyone could see when we got to the site. He got us there before other groups. He provided good information.
Just be aware, when they say torches provided it’s just the guide’s personal torch. If you have a red light torch I’d recommend bringing it, because you won’t get a personal one.

Regarding the flashlight, we would just like to clarify that this is a regulation established by Tortuguero National Park. Tourists are not allowed to enter the beach with their own flashlights, including red-light flashlights. Only certified guides are authorized to carry and use the appropriate red light during the turtle observation.
This rule is in place to protect the turtles and minimize any disturbance during the nesting process. We really appreciate your feedback, and we will make sure to explain this regulation more clearly to our guests beforehand.
