Napa Valley Wine Train Legacy Experience

We had a wonderful experience from start to finish on the 6hr Legscy tour with two vineyard visits and a wine tasting in the open sided carriage in front of the famous Napa valley sign. Our guides Marina and Oscar were fun, knowledgeable and very friendly and the food was exceptional. We greatly enjoyed the beautiful views and tasting a variety of wines at very welcoming vineyards. Loved dancing in the open sided carriage as we headed back to Napa too. Would highly recommend.

It was an unexpected great time. Wonderful way to experience Napa Valley, worry free. Food, entertainment and staff was first class.

What a great experience. The food, wine, vineyard visits and dancing like I was young again in the open-air car were excellent. Nick and Marina made our trip memorable. Fantastic trip and would highly recommend. Sometimes when you book an experience and you wonder if you are going to get your money's worth and my opinion, it was worth it. First time to Napa and this experience will bring me back.

The legacy tour is expensive but it was awesome. For us as a first time visit to Napa we really enjoyed it. Two winery stops and breakfast lunch and dessert. The mater’d Nick was a lot of fun and kept us laughing. Marina our server was knowledgable and very friendly. They also had dancing in the open air car on the way back. Which seems dangerous but was a lot of fun. Very much enjoyed the food, wines, and fun. Recommend it

We boarded the train and there was sparkling wine waiting for us at our table. We enjoyed a delicious salmon Benedict breakfast, and then all guests were directed to have our 3 wine tastings in the back of their open train car as we listened to great music and got to know other guests. When we went back inside to our seats, everything was cleaned up from breakfast and we enjoyed our lunch as we rode through Napa and our server shared the history. They also had a full bar available if guests wanted to buy other types of drinks. We stopped at a couple of wineries for tastings, and each time we got back on the train we were given treats - first cheese and then dessert. On the ride home, we relaxed and listened to some Motown hits. They also had more upbeat music and dancing in the back of the train. Overall, it was a very nice and relaxing experience.

We booked the Legacy Experience on the Napa Valley Wine Train, and it ended up being one of the most memorable parts of our Napa trip. The staff truly made the experience: Conductor Lee, Waitress Martina, and Maître d’ Nick were all exceptional. They were informative, warm, and kept our group organized through the entire 6-hour journey. The tour includes four courses — breakfast, cheese course, your choice of entrée and dessert — along with two winery stops. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. The only thing I wished for was a choice for the breakfast course (I’m not an Eggs Benedict person), but the quality was fantastic. We both chose the grilled tenderloin of beef for our main, and the molten chocolate lava cake and pumpkin brûlée for dessert — all delicious. A couple of helpful notes for future travelers: Photo with the Napa Wine Train sign: You cannot get off the train for it; the picture is taken from the open-air car with the sign in the background. Timing: If you’re seated in the last car, you might be served a bit later and feel slightly rushed before deboarding for winery visits. Arrive early: The wine shop is great, and you can purchase wine, gifts, hats, ornaments, and more. You can also enjoy wine or a mimosa before boarding (note: the mimosas aren’t complimentary). Pre-purchase add-ons: We bought the professional train photo and the sommelier wine flight in advance — both were a bit cheaper and totally worth it. The highlight of our day was dancing on the open-air car with Nick — such a joyful, unexpected moment. From the front desk to the wine bar to the shopkeepers, train crew, and winery guides, every single staff member we met was friendly and welcoming. This was truly an incredible experience, and we can’t wait to do it again. Highly, highly recommend!

I’m not sure how the wine train receives as many positive reviews as it does. My husband and I had such high expectations and to say it was a disappointment is an understatement. For reference, we selected the all-day Legacy Experience - this was how we chose to celebrate our anniversary. We were seated in the very last booth on the last car, so our service was substandard. It felt like we were inferior guests compared to all other parties. Our main course meal arrived at our table less than 10 minutes prior to arriving at the first winery stop (other tables had 40+ minutes to enjoy their meals). We were rushed by staff to finish eating and get off the train. They also ran out of ingredients for one of the dishes that we pre-ordered so we had to pick from what they had leftover by the time they got to us. The “cheese course” was a tiny dollop of Brie with a crostini. None of the courses included a wine pairing. The winery tours and tasting were uninformative and chaotic. We were so rushed to finish our tastings that it ruined the experience at each stop. You’d think that for $600 a person, the staff would be able to manage time better and provide us with the “luxury” experience that is sold. I regret spending the time and money on this experience as it was wildly underwhelming and truly a Napa money grab attraction.

An absolutely wonderful full day adventure. Highly recommend. Food was delicious. Entertainment and service was fabulous. Loved the 2 wineries we stopped at. Lots of dancing and smiles. Would do this on first day of your trip

Celebrated our 25th anniversary on the legacy tour. Would recommend this 100%! The service was impeccable- Alicia and Oscar made you feel special. The tastings were fun, food was delicious! You won’t be disappointed!

My wife and I did the day trip on the Napa Valley Wine Train in our first ever visit to Napa. I would recommend doing this at least once. It is a unique experience where the train travels the length of Napa Valley and involves stops for 3 wine tastings, serves both breakfast and lunch. The wine tastings were great and the food served was very good. Obviously transportation is handled for the day and the agenda is provided. All you need to do is buy a ticket and the day is taken care of. We recommend this experience.
