Contained within this museum are all the stories and many more which scared the crappers out of you as a child.
Useless and too expensive, the audio guides repeat what is written on the wall. The paintings, created with AI, are incomprehensible and do not correspond to the stories told. Too expensive for what it offers.
Unique museum, definitely for fans of the genre. Perhaps a bit repetitive. Descriptions in English or Croatian were too long. It might be worth spending a little bit more and having an audio guide accompany you on the visit.
Thank you for your review. We would just like to clarify that the texts displayed in the museum are not descriptions of the illustrations, but folktales, legends, and stories from Slavic mythology that have been passed down through generations. The illustrations are Zdenko Basic’s artistic interpretations, depicting the characters, atmosphere, and events connected to these traditions. For visitors who prefer listening rather than reading, the audio guide can certainly make the experience more enjoyable and engaging.
We really enjoyed this museum. Very friendly welcome, the audio guides are great. We took the time to listen to everything and open all the drawers and hiding places. We highly recommend it.
This was hands down one of the best museums I’ve ever been to. It was like an art museum combined with history combined with lore. Each room had so much in it and so many little cubbies and hidey holes with cool things in it. The art is astounding, the stories are fun, and the museum is wonderful. A must-go for in Zagreb!
Thank you so much for this wonderful review! We are delighted that you enjoyed the combination of art, history, folklore, and all the hidden details waiting to be discovered. It means a lot to hear that you consider us one of the best museums you have visited. Thank you for recommending us as a must-see in Zagreb!
Excellent space. Decorations to the detail. Translation in several languages. Excellent photographs.
Another museum in Zagreb that stands out from the rest for its originality. It was like entering Alice Wonderland. All mythology passes in front of you. Each room is also a fairy tale.It has so much information that it takes at least 2 hours to enjoy it.
Amazing, fabulous, a must-visit-place in Zagreb! One of the latest Museums in Zagreb, invented by our genious Croatian artist Zdenko Bašić! Step into a world You colud never imagine - I was TOTALY thrilled with all the amazing details and stories in the Museum of the old legends and fairytales! Must visit!
Thank you so much for this amazing and enthusiastic review! We are delighted that you enjoyed Zdenko Basic’s imaginative world, the stories, and all the hidden details throughout the museum. Just one small clarification: our museum is dedicated to old legends, mythology, and Croatian folktales rather than traditional fairy tales. We truly appreciate your wonderful recommendation and are thrilled that the experience left such a strong impression on you!
After saying this visit wasn’t for me, I was soon proved wrong!!! It’s a must visit and do spend a good hour there .. our first circuit of 7 rooms was slightly rushed but we opted to go round again and saw so many clever, interesting things. Silhouettes, images and puppets along with some video footage added to the story which at times was slightly spooky. And yes I would revisit again.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are delighted that you decided to explore the seven rooms for a second time and discovered even more of the hidden details, silhouettes, illustrations, puppets, and video elements. There is certainly a lot that can be missed on the first visit! We are especially happy to hear that you would visit us again, and we look forward to welcoming you back.
Brilliant museum, loved it . Very goth . Loved the art work. I went round 3 times as easy to miss something. Even my husband thought it was great. Well worth a visit.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are delighted that you enjoyed the museum’s darker atmosphere and Zdenko Basic’s artwork. Going around three times is true dedication, and you are absolutely right that there are many hidden details that can easily be missed on the first visit. We are especially pleased that both you and your husband enjoyed the experience. Thank you for recommending us!
