Choose how you want to experience Mount Batur sunrise. If you want the full challenge, take the classic hike and walk about 2 hours to the summit. If you prefer an easier option, go by jeep. Mount Batur Trek with Teens

My family of 4 (2 boys 17 and 15) loved our mount batur trek and hot springs trip. Communication pre tour was great and everything went smoothly right from the start. Our driver was excellent, arrived on time and had good English. Our guide Kaus was brilliant and fun. Helped me (50 and relatively fit!) here and there get up and down the mountain. It’s slippery underfoot and pretty steep the whole way, like you’d imagine, but we climbed it in 90 mins and were given sticks for balance so it’s very do-able. My kids of course raced up and down. We didn’t need layers for the climb as got hot on route, but we appreciated having layers to put on at the top as it was very cold and windy. And it rained! Very grateful the weather cleared and we had a beautiful sunrise. Kaus made sure we enjoyed the volcano to the full and took some fabulous photos. The hot springs were nice and the cafe there was good. Absolutely fabulous trip. Definitely a highlight of our stay in Bali!!

Fabulous Family Experience with Teens

When we knew we were coming to Bali this is the first tour we booked. I checked all the reviews and decided to go with this company based on the number of positive experiences. I’m so glad we did! We had an incredible time this morning. Our guide Kaus was wonderful -informative and funny and helped me with the tricky parts! He made sure we experienced the top of the volcano to the full and he also took some fabulous photos. My family had a brilliant experience and we were lucky enough to see a beautiful sunrise. My boys (17 and 15) loved it too. Our driver Komang was brilliant too, great communication and bang on time! If you are considering booking a mount batur trip, look no further. Can’t imagine any of the others being better than this one.

With a little help from my friend, Kuas.

I can't tell you what a great day out this was. We were picked up at the hotel in Ubud at 2am, driver was on time and very careful as the drive was fairly long and the roads are windy and steep. We arrived at the foot of Mt Batur and met out wonderful guide Kuas. Not of tall stature but by the end of the trek, he showed he had heart of a lion, and a wonderfully caring person. Loves his job, loves his family and loved showing us this part of Bali. Now, I'm 69 years old, and had no idea what was ahead. Kitted out with a walking pole and headtorch, remember this was a 3:30am to get to summit for sunrise. My wife does trekking, I do motorcycle touring, so to be honest I did struggle somewhat as it gets steep, and slippery, but Kuas was aware when I was struggling and offered a welcome hand up some parts, encouraged me to keep going. Rested us when needed, made sure we had enough stops. This is approximately a 2 hour hike, and the legs did feel it, although a lot of younger folk made it look easier, I continued on. We chatted about families, and all things about the hike. Finally reading the destination in the darkness, we sat on a bench, Kuas went off to cook some eggs in steam with Bev and we enjoyed a nice breakfast and a hot coffee. I can't thank Kuas enough for the way he looked after us both. The view, unbelievable, it was everything Kuas said it would be as the sun slowly came up over the mountains. For me, it's something I don't normally do, but would do it again. Kuas sometimes does it twice a day, with a smile on his face and always extended his hand to help us both. You have the option of walking back down, or taking a taxi motorcycle dirt bike down. We took option b. And the rider was extremely safe in negotiating the steep descent. My old legs appreciated the lift. By the end of the day we felt like we had known Kuas for a long time and hopefully will meet again some day. One if nature's true gentlemen. Thanks mate

You have to do this on your trip to Bali

We had an amazing time. Started our day with a prompt pick up from our villa and headed over to the meeting place. Then we started our hike. We made plenty of stops for breaks and water which was needed because the climb is STEEEEEEEEEP but beyond worth it. At the top we had a nice breakfast (bring a hoodie with you the wind does make it chilly up there) with a hot drink. We stayed for sunrise in total we were at the top for about 2 hours. It was a bit crowded but again well worth it. We took several pictures while there and on the way down. Our guide was super friendly and helpful and took amazing pictures of us. Then we met back with our driver and headed over to the hot springs to take a dip and stayed for about an hour there. After that we went to the coffee plantation for a tasting of coffees and teas and a tour on how they make these items there. For everything we did the price was incredible! I highly recommend taking this trip. It’s not an easy hike so definitely best for more prepared travelers.

So fun!!

This was extremely fun! Our tour guide Jero was so friendly and knowledgeable about the sites we visited. He took us up to the mountain and spent at least 30 min helping us with photos and videos. After the sunrise we went to the volanic area and even found us a speaker to play music. Amazing time would highly recommend!

Mount Batur morning

we had a great morning completing the sunrise walk. pick up was very punctual, nice car and safe driving. we met our guide Kuas at the bottom of the mountain, from start to finish he was very accommodating, always checking how we were and ensuring our safety by always stopping to help us over the harder parts. he was very kind and funny and took lots of amazing photos of us along the way. We really enjoyed the walk and Kuas made it an experience we will never forget!

A great experience!

Kuas was a wonderful tour guide, very patient and making sure we had plenty of rest stops on the way up! He was very kind and held my hand on the way up and down so I didn’t slip! He was very knowledgeable, telling us lots of facts about Mr Batur and its past eruptions. He showed us how to cook an egg in the volcanic steam, and then had a nice breakfast of banana sandwiches and hot chocolate! The climb was a little harder than I was expecting, but so worth the early wake up! Thank you very much Kuas! Hayley & Brodie
