Island Wings takes the time and makes the effort to help you realize your Alaskan dreams. Share our love of flying through our vast Alaskan wilderness. Experience the freedom of flight over the wild grandeur of the mountains, the islands and the endless sea. Our focus is the quality of your experience. From the handling of your reservation, to the equipment we operate, to the places we visit; we don't compromise and neither should you. The total time for this tour is 2.5 hours including: the two hour flightseeing tour and fifteen minutes for the pick-up and fifteen minutes for the drop-off. This tour takes you on a flight from Ketchikan to the Misty Fjords National Monument with a landing on a freshwater lake or a saltwater fjord with approximately a thirty minute stopover.

Itinerary
Alaska's Inside Passage or Southeast Alaska is home to some of the most breathtaking scenery on earth. One of its jewels is the majestic Misty Fjords National Monument. Completely road-less and consisting of 2.3 million acres, an area larger than Yellowstone, makes a seaplane tour the only way to comfortably experience the many different levels within the deep, narrow fjords. More dramatic than the Grand Canyon, the fjords are steep walled inlets of the sea. Created by glacial gouging long ago, snow capped, sheer granite cliffs rise dramatically 3,500 out of the sea, ribbonned with waterfalls plummeting sensationally thousands of feet. Nestled within the steep walled canyons, lie pristine bowl-shaped alpine lakes suspended at many different elevations above sea level. Fed by more than 150 inches of misty rain annually, the lush rain forest, made of giant stands of spruce, hemlock and cedar, cling to the rugged rising terrain. Wildlife abounds in the area, with mountain goats and harbor seals being the most frequently sighted animals. Our most popular tour lasts 2 hours and takes you across Revilliagegedo Island over to the Alaskan mainland where the fjords are located, and into the heart of the monument. Headsets with voice communication are provided to passengers so you can chat in flight and ask questions as we fly. For the highlight of the tour, we will land on an alpine lake or on a calm bay at sea level and let passengers get off of the floatplane for a quiet excursion. Relax, stretch your legs and take some photos as you drink in the silence of the vast wilderness. Flying within the Misty Fjords is truly an emotional experience you’ll never forget!!

Great trip! Adam, our pilot/guide did a nice job telling us about the Fjords and showings us the sights. We set down on a lake and got out on a rock and walked around, he also is a pretty good photographer! I highly recommend this excursion!
I learned so much about Alaska and the life of living in Alaska. So much that I would consider moving there
I thought I would enjoy this excursion but everything about it exceeded my expectations! Adam, our pilot and guide was fantastic!! Incredible scenery, great commentary, a very professional operation. Our landing on a lake was so smooth, it wasn’t until I saw the spray from the pontoons that I realized we’d landed. Cannot recommend this enough.
Just an incredible experience and pilot. One of the only operations to land in the fjords and allow passengers to get out and explore.
Amazing experience. Michelle was so awesome. Landing in the fjords for pictures was incredible. 100% would book with her company again.
Loved the experience. Michelle was great.the views were stunning. Absolute professional. Very informative on all that we saw.
This was the most incredible experience! Michelle was our pilot and she’s incredible knowledgeable about the area, pointing out the sights, and just making this whole experience a 1000/10! This tour is a MUST!! We were NOT expecting to land on a lake, and it was just completely unreal. You can’t miss this!!
The owner/pilot flew to see the most amazing spectacular scenery we have ever seen. The flight was smooth from beginning to landing. Michele landed on a lake, we were able to get out and walk around the shore. The views of the waterfalls, mountains and fjords blew us away. We highly recommend this to anyone that wishes the experience of a lifetime!
Absolutely breathtaking views! Immersive experience that will leave others jealous. If you want to see Alaska in it's true wilderness state, this is a must do tour! We got to land on a beautiful lake that no other tour guides will do. Plus, the pilots are amazing!
We were a little concerned that the weather forecast for the day of our trip was pretty poor. By the time we met in Ketchican the weather had improved and we were met on time and taken to the flying base. Safety was clearly taken very seriously and we were briefed before getting on our plane. This was our first time on a float plane and the pilot put us straight at ease with her calm and confident manner and really smooth takeoff. The scenery was fabulous and the lake landing spot at the mid-point of our journey was so very scenic and peaceful. Our pilot was very knowledgeable and entertaining and we had a great trip. Although not our cheapest excursion it was definitely one of the best, just do it!
