Midnight Sun Kayaking Adventure by Mt. Kirkjufell

Luna and William did a fantastic job. At one point, we just stood still while a seal swam around us about five feet away, it was incredible. Really great group, so glad we went.

We signed up for the midnight kayaking tour because I was specifically interested in experiencing being on the lake floating in a kayak at that hour, with that special lighting that only happens at that hour in Iceland. When I inquired what time we were supposed to be at the harbor, we were informed 7:45pm. The tour was from 8-10pm. So we were finished and back at the hotel looking at the spectacular colors of the sunset from our hotel room instead of being on the lake, like the pictures advertise. We paid extra for the midnight experience and it could have been at 3pm. It would have made all the difference going at sunset which was promised, not earlier. I am very disappointed. Having said that, the guides were lovely. William from France and Luna from Spain, both spoke English well and were very friendly and explained things well and told us interesting facts. We were very happy with them and assume it's not their fault that the time of the tour didn't coincide with what is advertised.

I participated Midnight Sun Kayak on Aug 3, 2026. Our guide was Greg from Poland. He did great job in leading us throughout the exploration around Kirkjufell. He gave us instructions on dressing up the equipment suit, techniques for safe kayak, and took lots of nice pictures for us. Along the way he give us a brief history and some local legends in the area. We have a great time explore the area and finished the tour with hot chocolate on shore. The only pity was that the midnight sun didn’t show up, but that will give us another reason to come back. Thank you Greg for your service and good luck with your own adventure.

kayaking near kirkjufell was a great experience! guide shared stories, answered questions, and gave great local insight to happenings both historical and current. recommend if you like getting out for a different perspective on a popular tourist sight!

Wonderful experience midnight kayaking on summer solstice! Luna was very sweet, friendly and knowledgeable! We spent a plenty of time on the water and also exploring the beach near Mt.Kirkjufell. We even seen two seals! What a treat! Thank you, Luna!

This was our first time kayaking and we were very excited about it and it turned into the most amazing experience and memories we’ll treasure for a lifetime. The views of Kirkjufell at sunset were absolutely breathtaking, and the clouds only added to the cinematic atmosphere making it a truly splendid experience A huge thank you to William, who stayed with me the entire time. When I struggled at the start, he kindly hooked my kayak to his and kept it that way to make sure I had a calm, enjoyable, and unforgettable experience. I’m so grateful for his patience and help. Greg was fantastic , incredibly knowledgeable and full of fascinating stories about the area, which made the whole adventure even more special. And the hot chocolate and cookies at the end were the perfect finishing touch. Overall, an incredible experience from start to finish. I met the guy in the afternoon and decided to come back to take the tour at night. William and Luna were fantastic quickly suited us up and we were out on the water for 2 hours with an amazing sunset. Finished with some cocoa and cookies and great conversation.
