Glaciers are alive!

Amazing, both Havi and Elmar were fantastic, answering all our questions. The tour itself is surreal, being underground inside a glacier and seeing with your own eyes how quickly (relatively) the glacier builds up through time, swallowing stuff in its path has been a highlight of the trip. Learning that glaciers and born and grow and die was fantastic and the whole family loved it. The NATO missile trucks were cool too!

Our guides Ale and Haffy were fantastic. The were very thorough talking about the glacier, how the ice tunnel was built, and some really interesting Icelandic history. Don't miss this tour. It was not like anything else I saw.

Fifty metres under the glacier

It was a great experience. Hammer the guide was very informative and organised. He ran our tour expertly. On the way back to base camp from the tunnel he gave us lots of Iceland history and tit bits and managed to make us all laugh. It was great to have the option of protective clothing provided as our shoes weren’t waterproof for no extra cost we were given the use of over shoe covers.

Top tour with Haffi as a guide

We booked on short notice at the hotel on-site. Transport by bus to the base camp. Top tour with Haffi as a guide, very informative and perfectly suitable for children. Ours, 8 and 6, thought it was great. A sled was there for the 6-year-old. Warm waterproof clothing and waterproof shoes would be sensible; some things are provided if needed. It is a bit slippery at the entrance, so listen to the guide's warning;). Haffi answered all questions patiently and in detail, and his song was a highlight. Price/performance is absolutely reasonable given everything that is provided.
