Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, is a popular tourist attraction in Pamplemousses, near Port Louis, Mauritius, and the oldest botanical garden in the Southern Hemisphere. Famous for its long pond of giant water lilies (Victoria amazonica), the garden was first constructed by Pierre Poivre (1719 – 1786) in 1770, and it covers an area of around 37 hectares.
In addition to its giant waterlilies, the garden also features spices, ebonies, sugar canes, and 85 varieties of palms from Central America, Asia, Africa and the islands around the Indian Ocean. Many trees have been planted by world leaders and royalty, including Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, Indira Gandhi, François Mitterrand and Robert Mugabe.

A wonderful, unrushed day exploring the best of the north
My family and I really enjoyed our day trip. Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. Nothing feels rushed and we had a good look in the market at Port Louis, followed by magnificent views from Citadel. We visited Pamplemousses Botanical Garden, a "must-see", if in the area. Our guide took us to a local place for lunch which was delicious. Our final stop was the Grand Baie beach. Definitely great value for money and a very satisfying day!

North Mauritius tour
We booked this excursion via GetYourGuide for an amount of €86, to which we added €64.86 for the SUV driver option.
At the time of booking, the description clearly indicated that a guide was included in the service. However, upon our arrival, no guide was present. It was explained to us that the driver was also supposed to act as a guide.
In reality, we only received a driver service: no real guide service, no guided tour, and no accompaniment corresponding to what was advertised in the description.
We therefore paid a total of €150.86 for a service that does not correspond to the one we booked and paid for.

Great trip!
Everything went perfectly from the pickup to the tour itself. Our driver Avi was very nice and accommodating. When my husband injured his leg, he took very good care of him! We were able to coordinate the tour individually with Avi and see what we wanted. It was a fantastic trip and we had a lot of fun with Avi. We can only recommend it!

Great road trip, discovery, and information tour for this amazing country!
I chose this tour because of the private, customizable nature, and the ability to see so much of Mauritius. I was not disappointed and I had one of the best days! My driver, Avi, was completely open to my requests and made it an incredibly fun day. For me, the views of the topography, the incredible beach drive and breaks were ideal. I enjoyed the botanical gardens, I especially recommend the pink 🪷 lotus. THANK YOU, Avi for all the information about Mauritius!! Highly recommend for solo travelers.

Very poor support
It was our last day at once every minute was counted. The driver arrived 45 minutes late in the morning for the last mission of the day. We arranged to meet at a Parking lot at 3:15 pm. It arrived at 4pm another 45 minutes wasted in the day it is an hour and a half lost as there are two of us with my wife, we lost three hours on our last day. It is inadmissible if you can obtain monetary compensation from me. Do not hesitate otherwise you are not about to see me again. Have a nice end to the day.

Great.
Baboo was exceptional from start to finish: very professional guide, attentive, punctual and with clear and interesting explanations throughout the day. Thanks to him, the visit to the north of Mauritius is fluid, well organized and pleasant.
The program is complete and balanced: botanical garden of Pamplemousses, citadel of Port-Louis, Cap Malheureux . Private transport is comfortable and allows you to fully enjoy every stop.
An excellent activity, perfectly supervised by Baboo, ideal to discover the north of the island in complete serenity.

Everything was perfect , the guide driver really competent , made us know a lot about the scene , the story , never miserly explanations , and very friendly in addition . He took care of us for 9 hours for a really complete tour.
