Marrakech: Private Atlas Mountains Day Trip with Lunch

Description
For lovers of nature, fresh air, and adventure — and for travelers craving a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech — this private day trip takes you deep into the High Atlas Mountains, through unspoilt Berber villages and some of the warmest, most welcoming people you'll meet in Morocco. This is a stress-free journey to the "real" Morocco. You'll step inside a genuine Berber home and share lunch with the family who lives there, take in panoramic views over the Ourika Valley, learn the story behind Morocco's famous organic Argan oil straight from the women who produce it, and try your hand at traditional pottery with a local artisan. Because the day is entirely private, it moves at your pace — no crowds, no rushing, no fixed script. Just your group, the mountains, and a side of Morocco most travelers never see.

Itinerary
The scenic drive to Ourika Valley is a highlight in itself. Winding through the foothills of the High Atlas, the road passes majestic mountain peaks and a string of authentic Berber valleys — Tafza, Aghbalou, Oulmes — each one more striking than the last.
You'll arrive in Setti Fatma, a colorfully painted Berber village nestled in a canyon beneath the High Atlas peaks, famous for its series of seven waterfalls. We time your arrival early to beat the crowds, so you can take in the peace and the panoramic views before it gets busy. A certified local guide is included at no extra cost, leading you on a hike through the waterfalls and along the Ourika river. Comfortable shoes are recommended.
A stop at a women's organic Argan oil cooperative, where you'll learn about the production process, its traditional uses, and the community of Berber women behind Morocco's most precious natural export.
A genuine Berber family welcomes you into their home for a fresh Moroccan salad, a slow-cooked vegetable and meat tajine, and seasonal fruits — homemade, hearty, and wholesome, finished with Moroccan mint tea and a local pastry. Prefer to eat by the river? We can arrange lunch at a trusted riverside restaurant instead — just let us know.
On the way back to Marrakech, you'll stop at a traditional pottery workshop for a short, hands-on initiation with a local artisan — getting your hands into the clay to try one of the region's oldest crafts.

Had a lovely day escaping the heat of the city. Exceptional knowledge and driving 😁. Our driver, Abdo, who took us around all the sites on the itinerary and our Waterfall guide, Abdul, were fabulous. We also very much enjoyed the Berber village, traditional lunch and general experience. One slight disappointment was the pottery experience. It reads as if we were going to be able to try working with some clay, this was not the case - we were shown how the item is made, then taken to the shop. Perhaps re-wording that part would be useful. All in all though a good day, though and definitely worth going to see a different side of Morocco.
Both our guides through out the day were exceptional. Our driver was patient and receptive to our group. Our guide on the Atlas Mountains was so patient with our group. He lead one of our party so carefully back down when she was nervous he walked the whole way backwards while holding her hand. I really can’t speak highly enough of them both
A rather pleasant private car ride with a driver, but not a guide. After a visit to a pottery factory with another group, a Berber house and a carpet factory, you arrive at the tour of the waterfalls and you have the right to a private guide, this was the best part of this excursion. A change of scenery...
Ahmed was very informative and helpful. He made our day trip very enjoyable. The second Abdul who escorted us to see the waterfalls was also helpful by offering his hand as support. The efforts of both Abduls were very much appreciated.
Excursion very well organized. The guide was very friendly! We particularly enjoyed the climb to the waterfall and lunch at homestay. To do without hesitation.
Really great tour with a fantastic driver - Samat. We were able to tailor our trip and stop offs. Over all a really great experience and highly recommend.
Yes We had the most incredible experience exploring the Ourika Valley with our guide, Anas 🌄✨ At just 22 years old, Anas is already an exceptional tour guide. He’s knowledgeable, kind, and genuinely passionate about sharing the beauty and culture of Morocco. From the breathtaking mountain views to the rivers of Ourika Valley, he made every moment special with his insights and warm personality. If you’re looking for an authentic, memorable experience I can’t recommend Anas enough. He has such a bright future ahead, and I’m sure he’ll become one of the best guides in Morocco 🇲🇦💛 Thank you, Anas, for an unforgettable day!
Very pleasant excursion with a competent and interesting driver.
We had a really great time, our driver Abdo was friendly, trustworthy and helpful, it was interesting to see how the Berbers live.
A day exploring the Atlas and waterfalls with an incredible driver who made the journey special. The highlight was the amazing dinner at a traditional home -authentic, delicious, and heartfelt. Truly beautiful moments and warm hospitality.
