On the island of Manga is the Fort of San Sebastian del Pastelillo, which has now become the location of the famous Club de Pesca restaurant.
In this place there was the fort of Boquerón, which was destroyed in 1741 by Admiral Vernon in the attack on the city of Cartagena. Together with other fortresses such as Fort San Jose and Fuerto de San Fernando , it controlled the maritime traffic of the bay to prevent possible attacks.
The Fort of San Sebastian del Pastelillo has 31 guns and camouflage is achieved on the ground. The name of San Sebastian comes from a Saint who was the patron of the conquerors, and Pastelillo is a military term that means like grass, therefore a castle that adapts to the terrain.

Fifteen meters high, about 20 tons of marble the sculpture of the Virgen del Carmen returned to the Bay of Cartagena on June 6 to continue with a tradition of more than 30 years that had been interrupted after the collapse of the image in August 2015.
The emblematic figure, whose pieces in Italian white marble fell to the bottom of the water in a heavy rain were recovered from the seabed in an operation coordinated with the National Navy.

A pro-monument Board was created and began meeting every week in the sacristy of the convent of Santo Domingo, where the Conciliar Seminary was operating.
By means of Manuel Mainero, Italian consul in Cartagena, and representative of the shipping company “Italian Line”, the creation of a marble image was managed, with the signature U. Luisi Heredi, sculptors of Pietra Santa, population of Italy near Pizza .
The inauguration took place on July 16, 1958. That day a crowd, led by Archbishop José Ignacio López, sang praises to the Virgin in an impressive procession that left from the Cathedral and reached the walls along the Arsenal Avenue.

At the beginning of the XVII century it was decided to fortify the inner bay, and in a royal decree of 1608 the construction of a fort in the Punta del Judío, the Santa Cruz was ordered. Known familiarly as Castillogrande, it was constructed by Cristóbal de Roda and Francisco de Murga between 1626 and 1636, following the plan of Tiburcio Spanoqui. It was a fortress with a square base, having bulwarks in each of the four corners, a central yard of arms and a moat.
When the Bocagrande entrance was closed in 1640, the defensive strategy of the bay changed, centering on the Bocachica entrance. This fact affected the existing fortresses of the bay, ordering their dismantling in 1647 to reuse the materials in the construction of San Luis de Bocachica. Notwithstanding, Castillogrande would survive until the French attack led by the Baron De Pointis in 1697, when it was severely ruined.
Juan de Herrera y Sotomayor considered it key for the defense of the port, therefore, in 1728 he directed its reconstruction which would not be completed in 1741 when Vernon attacked the city. The fortress was partially destroyed and would not be rebuilt, its remains being used from then on as ammunition for the artillery. This use continued until 1938, when an explosion in a munitions deposit maintained there by the Navy destroyed its vaults, leaving only a portion of the rampart next to the port and other vestiges. It is currently integrated into the installations of the Officers’ Club of the National Navy.

A fun and memorable pirate experience
We loved the pirate tour! The crew was friendly, energetic, and very entertaining. It was a fun way to enjoy Cartagena, learn a little about its history, and see the city from the water. The atmosphere was excellent from beginning to end. We would definitely recommend this experience!

Nothing spectacular
It is very basic, it does not have comfortable seats, they ask you to arrive 1 hour before setting sail... we expected more from the experience, it seemed very basic to us.

Fun but short
It was really fun! Specially at the beginning, they have a really fun DJ, but for what you pay I don't feel satisfied. No food! I thought I was buying dinner on a boat which is what I was looking for, but its fun for couples. The drinks were not great.
Operator response
Thank you for sharing your honest feedback! We’re happy to hear you had fun, especially at the beginning with our DJ! 🎶
We’re sorry the experience didn’t fully meet your expectations. We’d just like to clarify that dinner is not included in our tour service, and we do our best to make the inclusions clear at the time of booking. We completely understand, though, that you were looking specifically for a dinner cruise, so we’re sorry if there was any misunderstanding.
We also appreciate your feedback about the drinks. We take comments like yours seriously and are always looking for ways to improve the experience for our guests.
Thank you again for joining us and for taking the time to share your feedback! ❤️

Good for kids. Good pirate show. Great sunset views.
The boat is nice, they have a restroom, seats for everyone and only one part is covered with a roof. There is a DJ, two bartenders and two waiters. The ambiance is great, music, jokes, and a little pirate show before coming back. They provide guidance on how to find the boat in a very busy port, they send a picture of the ship and a picture of your guide. Our guide, Elkin, was the best photographer we could find, he took pictures, made videos, and helped us with every request. The drinks are included and unlimited. We went with a 3 year old and a 1 year old. If you go with kids, keep an eye on them since the boat has open spaces that a child could easily fit into and fall. They provide lifesaving vests upon request.

with children? Stay away - Not suitable for children - Not for kids
NOT recommended for children - It is a scam
We did the "Black Pearl II" activity with my children expecting something pirate-themed. Out of 2 hours, only 10 minutes were for children.
The rest is for adults: rude language, sexual content, and drinking competitions between the DJ and the attendees.
There were 10 bored children exposed to an inappropriate environment. My children left saying: "I am disappointed. This is a scam".
Zero education, zero pirate theme, just noise. Now I have to explain to my son swear words he learned there.
It is a SCAM to get people onto the boat. Do not bring children.
NOT for kids - Total SCAM

No teaching, no pirate theme, just noise. Now I have to explain new swear words my son learned there.
They just pack the boat with people. Do NOT take children.

Hello, we’re truly sorry for the experience you and your family had. This is absolutely not the experience we want any of our customers to have.
We believed offering you an alternate boat while ours was undergoing maintenance would be an acceptable solution, but we understand now that it did not meet the experience or expectations you had booked with us. We sincerely apologize for that.
We have taken the necessary steps to ensure this situation does not happen again and that our guests receive the quality experience they deserve.
Thank you for taking the time to leave an honest review. We truly value your feedback, and we’re genuinely sorry that we fell short of delivering the five-star experience we strive for.

Open bar, incredible views, and an exceptional crew.
The boat is beautiful. I believe we were lucky that few people went up to our reservoir; besides my family and me (4 people), only another family of 4, two couples, and a single guy went up. This allowed us to do many activities such as raising the sails and participating in the pirate ship battle. It is all-you-can-drink, and it is totally worth it; the drinks are very good and strong, but that is what one looks for in an all-you-can-drink. I loved the music, all the decorations, and they also lend you pirate hats and plastic swords for taking photos. The crew is not only perfect for setting the party atmosphere, but they are also excellent for taking photos; they helped us take incredible pictures that we will keep as memories. The service was very pleasant; one would expect that because it is all-you-can-drink, they would take a long time to bring or serve the drinks, but quite the opposite; even before you finish your drink, they offer you another one, and I loved that. We had a cloudy day, but even so, the views of the coast and the city are beautiful; the navigation does not feel turbulent, and it is an excellent plan to party in a relaxed way with family. Totally recommended.

Very good!
The tour is very delicious and the hours fly! The people who were working were extremely dear to me and my family. We are Brazilians and we did not master 100% of Spanish, but the team made a lot of efforts to serve us in the best way possible. They were very caring, especially with my father.
The included drinks could have a better quality, especially we didn't like them very much hahahaha. Other than that, the walk and the climate are amazing! The DJ got too much on the chosen songs.
We were very happy and grateful for this afternoon surrounded by good people, excited and happy!
