Itinerary

The Corinth Canal is a narrow, man-made waterway in Greece that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf, effectively separating the Peloponnese from the mainland. Completed in 1893, the canal is about 6.4 kilometers long and only 21 meters wide, making it too narrow for most modern ships. However, it remains an iconic engineering feat and a major tourist attraction. The idea of cutting through the Isthmus of Corinth dates back to ancient times, even considered by Emperor Nero. Today, the canal is admired for its steep limestone walls and strategic significance, offering a shortcut that saves ships a 700-kilometer journey around the Peloponnese. While it no longer plays a major commercial role, it continues to captivate visitors with its historical and architectural importance. We will make a 30-minute stop here so you can enjoy the breathtaking view and take photos from the Isthmus bridge.

Dedicated to the goddess Hera, it dates back to the 9th century BCE and flourished during the Archaic and Classical periods. The sanctuary includes the main temple of Hera, an older apsidal temple, a cistern, dining rooms, and a stoa. Set in a dramatic coastal landscape overlooking the Corinthian Gulf, the site offers a unique blend of natural beauty and historical significance. It served as a major religious center for the region and possibly played a role in early maritime trade. Excavations have revealed numerous votive offerings, indicating its importance in ancient worship. Today, the Heraion is a fascinating destination for visitors interested in ancient Greek religion, architecture, and breathtaking views. We will wait for you here for approximately one hour, so you can have time to visit the archaeological site.

Corinth tour

Driver was awesome! Took to the sites, the cool places to see. Would highly recommend, he offered to spend more time taking us places, but we were physically spent from the travel day to get to Greece.

Great Tour Guide company

We went on three tours with them. They were all excellent tours with great drivers. We enjoyed Epidarurus, the Canal of Corinth, Loutraki, Mycenae, and Nemea. We highly recommend using this tour guide company. It was nice having drivers who knew the history of the places, and they also were familiar with the roads. The tour listed was my favorite trip. Every tour day was great.
