Itinerary
The Corinth Canal is a narrow, man-made waterway in Greece that connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. Completed in 1893, it cuts through the Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from mainland Greece. The canal is about 6.4 kilometers long and only 21 meters wide at its base, making it too narrow for modern large ships. Despite this, it remains an important historical and tourist site, offering a stunning view of steep rock walls and serving as a symbol of engineering ambition in ancient and modern times. We will make a 30-minute stop for you to enjoy the stunning view and take photos from the bridge over the Corinth Canal.
The ancient Diolkos of Corinth was a paved trackway that enabled ships to be transported overland across the Isthmus of Corinth. Built in the 6th century BCE, it connected the Saronic Gulf to the Corinthian Gulf, allowing faster and safer passage between the Aegean and Ionian Seas. The Diolkos functioned as a kind of stone "railway," using wheeled platforms to move ships. It was a remarkable feat of ancient engineering and played a key role in commerce and military strategy in antiquity. Today, its remains highlight the ingenuity of ancient Greek infrastructure. We will make a short stop here for approximately 30 minutes, giving you the opportunity to visit the section of the ancient Diolkos in Corinth, as well as the unique submersible bridge at the entrance of the Corinth Canal.
Ancient Corinth was one of the most powerful city-states of ancient Greece, strategically located between mainland Greece and the Peloponnese. The archaeological site includes impressive ruins such as the Temple of Apollo (6th century BC), the Roman Agora, fountains, shops, and public buildings that reflect its historical importance. Visitors can walk through ancient streets and admire the blend of Greek and Roman architecture. The Archaeological Museum of Ancient Corinth, located within the site, houses remarkable artifacts uncovered during excavations. Its collections include statues, pottery, inscriptions, and mosaics that illustrate daily life, commerce, and religion in ancient times. Highlights include the Roman mosaics and items related to the Apostle Paul, who preached in Corinth in the 1st century AD. We will wait for you here for one hour, so you can visit the Archaeological Site and the Museum of Ancient Corinth.
Acrocorinth is the impressive acropolis of ancient Corinth, located on a steep, rocky hill rising 575 meters above sea level. It has been continuously fortified from antiquity through the medieval period due to its strategic location and panoramic views of the surrounding region. The fortress served as a powerful military and administrative center for the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Franks, Venetians, and Ottomans. Visitors can explore ruins of ancient temples, fountains, defensive walls, and a mosque. At the summit, the remains of the Temple of Aphrodite highlight the site's religious significance in antiquity. Acrocorinth offers not only a journey through centuries of history but also breathtaking views of the Corinthian Gulf, the Peloponnese, and the Isthmus of Corinth. We will wait for you here for one hour, so that you have time to visit the castle of Acrocorinth.

The driver was very kind and helpful. He was consistent at the time of receipt when I needed him. The car is excellent and clean. I highly recommend him. If I find myself in Corinth again I will surely call him again to transport me where I need to.
Fantastic tour of lovely Korinthos! Kostas was the epitome of the wonderful Greek hospitality. His knowledge of Korinthos history was impressive and is proficient in English. My wife and I felt comfortable and safe. Highly recommended!
We were collected on time from our accommodation in Vrachati and taken to Ancient Corinth and also Acrocorinth. The car was very clean and comfortable and our driver was very kind and helpful. The booking and paying process was very easy. Would definitely recommend this company.
The sites on the tour are very interesting and well worth the visit. My driver and guide Alexis was very friendly and helpful as I was having to use a walker due to a recent knee injury. For me the best part of the tour was the Temple of Apollo along with the excavation site of Ancient Korinth and the museum they have put together of the artifacts found. We got lucky when we went to visit the Korinth Canal as there was a boat going through and there were bungee jumpers on the platform. The water in the canal is a beautiful turquoise color…it was a great day and made all the better with Alexis leading the way for me.
Contacted by phone, we were able to get two taxis for 7 people within 5 minutes. Friendly driver, who showed us ancient Corinth and the Corinth Canal.
This was an excellent way to see the highlights of Corinth. Our guide took time to show us many areas, and to get out and take pictures. Both ends of the Corinth channel are amazing. The castle on the hill, and the ancient ruins of Corinth were amazing. I recommend this for someone who only has part of a day to see the area.
We decided on a personal taxi tour of Corinth to give us the flexibility around the various sites. Our driver was excellent, spoke good English and gave us the base information we needed at each location. Added bonus on the way back to the train station was a small detour to the place where the Greeks/Romans used to drag their ships across the Isthmus
We were picked up by a friendly taxi driver on time at the campsite. The vehicle large with plenty of space. The driver took us to all the sights and gave us some tips. Overall highly recommended, we booked right back for Athens.
Friendly and reliable car service. Alex was there at train station waiting on my sister and myself with a beautiful and very comfortable, and spotlessly clean car. He was so kind and engaged in conversation that related to the area and the sites of Corinth we came to see. He waited patiently while we took our time at each of the sites, as well as while we ate in the village next to ancient Corinth. At the base of the Acrocorinth fortress by the parking lot, Alex directed us to a lovely cafe where we could grab a water, restroom break and we could have eaten there if we had been hungry. Thankful to Alex for showing us around.
Very quick and clear response to our email enquiries. They provided us good suggestions and timing for each area with regards to the visit. Kostas and his colleague who drove us were very professional, on time, knowledgeable about Corinth and drove safely. We highly recommend Korinthos taxi agency to anyone who needs a good and reliable chauffeur service! Thank you Kostas and team!
