Our Museum is located in the heart of Covent Garden and is an award-winning day out for the whole family. Packed full of iconic red London buses, heritage Tube trains and black cabs, the Museum tells the story of how London has been shaped by its transport system over the past 220 years, starting from 18th-century horse-drawn buses to its pioneering underground railway. Families will love getting hands-on with many of the Museum's interactive games and play areas - under 5s will love exploring the All Aboard play zone and in the Future Engineers gallery, you can take to the driver's seat and drive an Elizabeth Line train. Visitors will be able to see vintage posters up-close and learn about iconic pieces of design including the Tube map and the world-renowned roundel or bullseye. Explore London's relationship with the public transport systems which shaped its identity, from 18th-century horse-drawn buses to its pioneering underground railway, and the iconic tube map. See the world's first underground steam and electric trains, classic London buses and trams, plus vintage vehicles. Red buses, black cabs, and the tube. Housed in a charming old flower market, the refurbished vehicles and colourful exhibits tell the story of how transport enabled London's development over the last 200 years. Journey through London's history as told through beautifully restored vehicles interactive displays, and iconic posters. Access the All Aboard playzone, where kids assume roles of conductors, mechanics, or drivers on interactive vehicles. Make sure to stop by the Museum's cafe-bar, Canteen, and its unique shop to pick up your transport-inspired gifts as part of your visit.

We visited the London Transport Museum as a family, and it was hands down one of the highlights of our trip to London. The museum is incredibly interactive and engaging, perfect for both kids and adults. The kids loved being able to climb aboard the old buses and trains, and we adults were fascinated by how creatively the history of the city’s transport was told. The space is well organized, with clear information and exhibits that keep you engaged from start to finish. It’s worth setting aside a few hours to take it all in at a relaxed pace. A special mention goes to the gift shop, which is excellent! We found unique, high-quality items with such creative designs tied to London’s iconic transport system — perfect for taking home a special souvenir from the trip. Highly recommend it for anyone visiting London with family. We’ll definitely be back!
I've been to the London Transport Museum a few times and it's a great visit, through the history of London and the different modes of transport. Recently I attended specifically for the Art Deco poster display and managed to join a guided tour with Ahid who was great, very knowledgable and keen to talk through the background and impact of Art Deco design on marketing post WWI. Really interesting and enjoyable.
We thoroughly enjoyed looking around the museum and learning more about the history of London Transport. The highlight was the Art Deco Tour. Ahid, our tour guide, talked us through some of the incredible posters and artwork associated with London Transport. Ahid was extremely knowledgeable, and his enthusiasm for the subject was infectious. He brought the history and artwork to life, making the tour both fascinating and enjoyable. We would highly recommend the tour to anyone interested in London’s history, design, or transport.
