Great people and great experience!

Experience a Japanese tea ceremony at Chikusuian in Kita-Kamakura. Watch an instructor prepare matcha, whisk it yourself, and enjoy two servings with Japanese sweets in a peaceful tea room. During this 60-minute experience, discover the care behind the utensils and movements of the ceremony. Your instructor will guide you through basic etiquette and matcha preparation. No experience is needed, and an English interpreter will help you follow along. Enjoy two types of sweets: omogashi (a soft confection) and higashi (a dry confection). For bookings made the day before or on the day, an alternative sweet replaces the omogashi. Kneeling is not required. Seiza support stools and chair seating at a tea ceremony table are available. Take a break from exploring Kamakura's temples and historic streets to discover Japanese culture through preparing and sharing tea.

Great people and great experience!
This tea ceremony experience was lovely! The setting, in a tatami room beside a beautiful Japanese garden, was so peaceful and picturesque. Our family (myself, my husband, and our two tween daughters) found it to be an interesting look into Japanese culture and history. One caveat to be aware of, it was not super comprehensive on teaching all about the tea ceremony. It was more about experiencing the ceremony, taking you through the steps. But the host was wide open to answering questions. So, if you are craving a more comprehensively educational experience, come with some questions prepared.

I participated with guests from overseas. The English interpreter was there and the teacher was a lovely person and I was able to experience Japanese culture slowly. Thank you very much.
Wonderful experience; the moment to slow down from our busy life. It was absolutely worth it to see such an authentic tea ceremony.
Away from the bustle of crowded tourist sites, we experienced a delightful one-hour introduction to the Japanese tea ceremony in a traditional house. Our host was poised and gracious and educated us on the basics and history of the ritual, with the aid of an interpreter. This is a must-do when visiting Kamakura!
We participate in a Japanese traditional ceramony that is spectacular in its beauty, the staff is great and happy to host guests. I highly recommend coming and being impressed.
