Description
Take on the biggest whitewater in the Jasper area on an exhilarating Class 3+ rafting adventure down the mighty Fraser River. As the only Jasper company licensed to raft the Fraser, we’ll take you into British Columbia, where your river adventure begins with views of Mount Robson—the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Paddle through large rolling rapids, portage around impressive Rearguard Falls, then tackle some of the trip’s biggest whitewater in the lower canyon. No previous rafting experience is required—first-time and experienced rafters alike can work together with their guide to take on the rapids. Finish with a gentler float and an optional swim, and in late summer, keep an eye out for spawning salmon making their way up the Fraser.

Mount Robson Provincial Park and Protected Area
Pass by
Travel approximately one hour from Jasper into British Columbia and the spectacular Mount Robson area, home to the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Enjoy impressive mountain scenery along the way, then stop just past Mount Robson to change into the provided rafting gear before heading to the Fraser River launch.

After a safety briefing with views of Mount Robson, launch onto the mighty Fraser River. Work together with your guide as you paddle through exciting Class 3+ whitewater, punching through sections of large rolling rapids with calmer stretches between each set. Offering the biggest whitewater in the Jasper area, the trip is suitable for first-time and experienced rafters alike.
Rearguard Falls

About midway through the rafting adventure, step ashore for a short portage around impressive Rearguard Falls. Stretch your legs and take in views of the powerful falls before returning to the raft for the most exciting section of the river.
Fraser River
55 min
Back on the Fraser River, enter the lower canyon and tackle some of the biggest and most exhilarating whitewater of the trip. After the final rapids, enjoy a gentler float toward the take-out, with the opportunity for an optional swim and the chance to spot wildlife along the river.

Participants must be at least 12 years old and weigh a minimum of 90 lb (41 kg).
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult parent or guardian.
No previous rafting experience is required.
Wear a swimsuit under your regular clothes to make changing into rafting gear easier. Bring a towel and warm clothing for afterward, plus water and a snack for the return journey.
All necessary rafting equipment is provided, including wetsuits, paddle jackets, life jackets, helmets and neoprene booties. On colder days, bring a fleece, wool or other non-cotton layer to wear under your paddle jacket.
Trips depart rain or shine.

All departure and check-in times are in Alberta Mountain Time (MT).

Like a movie scene
This was a highlight of our trip to Banff and Jasper! The setting is so picturesque, with turquoise water, green trees, and snow-capped mountains in the background. Our guide, Taylor, was friendly, supportive, and knew exactly what he was doing. It was also a relatively small group (4 per raft), so it didn’t feel commercialised.
With transfer from Jasper, wetsuits, and the option to purchase photos, this tour is really good value for money. I have already recommended it to friends!

Fraser River w/guide Shane
Rafting on the Fraser River was incredible! The River was high and had a good mix of choppy rapids and smooth sections to just float and enjoy the view. Our guide Shane was awesome, knowledgeable about the river, and kept us paddling in the right directions! The whole process is clear and organized, from the meeting spot to getting dressed and undressed in the gear, and following instructions on the river. It was chilly and I was worried as someone who is perpetually cold, I would freeze on the river. I didn't - they provided wetsuits, wet jacket and a third layer over top it all, along with gloves and booties. I was warm the whole time, and jumped in the river for a swim towards the end of the rafting, at the encouragement of the guide. Everyone got a turn sitting at the front of the raft which is the best spot for getting absolutely dunked on by the rapids! We were a boat full of 6 adult guests laughing our heads off at how fun it was in the rapids! Definitely book it and ask for Shane to be your guide.

Fantastic Fraser River Rafting
My husband and I really enjoyed rafting on the Mighty Fraser River with Maligne Adventures. All of the staff were excellent, especially our raft guide Dani. The rapids were exciting, we all had great fun splashing down the river. We saw 2 golden eagles overhead and huge salmon swimming up the river. I especially enjoyed jumping into the water and floating down a section of the river. Would definitely recommend.

It was well worth it...

Great day on the Fraser
This was such a fun day out. The staff were fun but very professional. Everything was very well-organised. We did the Fraser River and had some big water and beautifulscenery. We'd definitely recommend!

Safe and awesome!
We took our two teenagers on this adventure. It was safe, exhilarating, and absolutely awesome. The guides were great, the scenery was breathtaking, and care was taken to keep us responsible and safe. Hugely recommended.
