Itinerary
Our tour departs Inverness and travels north, up through to Loch Fleet where you might be able to spot some seals and a range of birds – make sure you have your camera ready!
Our John O’Groats tour continues on to the village of Golspie. The village, situated on the North Sea coast is nestled next to Ben Bhraggie and is an attractive little seaside resort, with long sandy beaches. Spend time here for refreshments before we journey on to Dunrobin Castle.
A stately home in Sutherland, Dunrobin Castle is the family seat of Clan Sutherland. It resembles a French chateau with its towering spires and it overlooks the Moray Firth. You'll have time here to explore the beautiful stately home, gardens & museum (optional extra) and enjoy some refreshments in their tearoom.
We pause at the Helmsdale Clearance for photos and to learn of the history of the area.
We will stop in the area around the old Viking Settlement of Wick for lunch.
After our visit to Wick, we then travel to John O’Groats; the most northerly point on British mainland. Here you’ll be able to stroll along the cliff path, take your iconic photo at the signpost, enjoy dramatic coastal views and perhaps see some local wildlife. John O’Groats is one of the best places in the UK to see Atlantic puffins, you might also see some grey seals or even an orca!
We travel to Dunbeath Harbour for photos
We pause at Brora beach for photos before returning to Inverness.

Lewis was excellent. Some more notice should be given that there aren't really any meal breaks. Plan accordingly and get snacks when you can along the way.
The trip was amazing not disappointed at all. Again our tour guide Lewis was an amazing host. He kept us entertained throughout the journey with lots of jokes and quiz. Overall the must visit trip to enjoy the beauty of Scotland and far north.

Our guide was Lawrence. He was very friendly and kept telling us stories about the different villages we drove through. We never got bored during the whole day trip. He stopped at the best spots giving us plenty of time to visit. We had plenty of time to visit Dunrobin castle and its gardens and even watch the falconry show. He also made several stops along the way for going to the toilets or buying souvenirs and food, for eating, and of course to walk around and take pictures. Besides the beautiful viewpoints, we saw and could take plenty of pictures of wild animals, like hares, highland cows, sheep, deer, seals, and luckily a few puffins. Everybody in our group of five said the day trip was excellent!
Thank you for your fantastic review! We're delighted to hear that Lawrence helped make the day so enjoyable with his stories and local knowledge. It's wonderful to know you had plenty of time to explore, visit Dunrobin Castle and its falconry display, and enjoy the many photo stops along the way. Spotting such a variety of wildlife, including puffins, is always a bonus! We're thrilled that everyone in your group enjoyed the trip, and thank you for choosing Timberbush. 😊
The landscapes and the tour in general are very beautiful: personally, as a birdwatching lover, I would have preferred longer stops at the points of naturalistic interest.
We had a wonderful day out on 04 August with Martin D to the top of the UK and its surroundings enroute. Martin was extremely informative and mixed well his local knowledge with charm and humour. The time allocated at the different stops was perfect, and despite the weather everything ran precisely to time. Can highly recommend this tour! Many thanks to Martin and Timberbush tours.
We totally enjoyed our trip up to John O’Groats with Martin D at the helm. He was friendly and informative, also giving us all plenty of pit stops for the long journey.
Louis was great. Very knowledgeable, shared lots of details about Scottish nature and history. The scenery is beautiful throughout the tour. Coach was nice and comfortable.
Lewis was a great tour guide. He is very knowledgeable about local wildlife, legends, and history. We thoroughly enjoyed our day.
Great trip in a comfortable bus. Lewis, the driver, was fun and knowledgeable. Don’t miss the hawks and falcons show at Dunrobin castle!
A beautiful day trip along the coast! Our guide Martin was super nice and told us a lot on the trip. Even though we couldn't see any puffins and seals, it was still a great excursion.
