Description
Escape into the Cretan countryside with a walk through Imbros Gorge, a cool, rocky ravine that makes for an easy walk. Stroll for about 5 miles (8 km) through the captivating gorge with an expert local guide, passing mountain villages and the impressive White Mountains. Visit one of the villages and then drive to Frangokastello, an old Venetian castle, where your guide will tell you about its history. Finally, cool off with a refreshing dip in the Libyan Sea. Includes hotel pickup and drop-off.

Imbros Gorge

Hiking in the countryside is a great thing to do on Crete, an island full of beautiful, inviting gorges with stunning views. Samaria is one that many people visit, but it’s a strenuous trek. Imbros, though, is a gorge for everyone, a rocky but easy 5-mile (8-km) walk.
After your hotel pickup in a comfortable, air-conditioned shuttle van, travel to Imbros Gorge with your guide. Begin your walk and take in the beauty of the limestone gorge. Pass the lovely villages of Vrisses, Askifou and Imbros.
In the village of Komitades, the terminus for the hike, enjoy some free time to explore the village and eat a nice, leisurely Cretan lunch (not included).
Frangokastello Castle

After lunch, drive to Frangokastello, an imposing castle built by the Venetians in the 14th century as a garrison to impose order on the rebellious locals. Your guide will discuss the history of the castle before you have free time to explore it. Cool off afterward with a dip in the Libyan Sea. At the end of the tour, relax on the drive back to your hotel.

False advertising
Imbros gorge is obviously great. If you are picking this excursion due to the visit to the castle and that particular beach - then don't pick this tour. After walking through the gorge the guide just decided to take us to a different beach without a castle. This beach was filled with other tour buses from other agencies and was too small. Partial refund was denied by tour operator despite this change.
Would definitely recommend Imbros Gorge, would not recommend this company.

Recommended tour
A very beautiful tour through the Imbros Gorge. From start to finish, one could enjoy the beauty of this gorge at their own pace. Afterward, one could still swim in the Libyan Sea for an hour and a half or simply enjoy the time by the sea. Thanks to the tour guide Angela and the bus driver Edison who safely brought us to and from our destination.

A beautiful experience

Rocky path, hiking shoes are recommended.
Beautiful vegetation in spring.

Nice but challenging walk

A Great Day in Imbros Gorge
My husband and I, along with two friends, Went on the Imbros Gorge hike. It was a fabulous experience! Although described as "easy," we found the rocky terrain challenging, but worth every step. The gorge is spectacularly beautiful and we were lucky to have perfect weather for our hike. But the best part of our experience was having Nikos as our guide. He was enthusiastic, encouraging, and patient--half cheerleader, half therapist. Thank you, Nikos!

Very nice hotel, very close to the beach...
We stayed at the Hotel Galini, is a very quiet but also nice hotel... the staff was ok... could be a bit friendlier... for that we had a very nice tour guide ( Mrs. Argiro Apostolaki ) She had tried to clarify everything for us and to our satisfaction! We were very positively surprised and were very happy to have you by our side!

Super!
The hike through the Imbros gorge we liked very much, even as an absolute hike beginner it was not too long or too strenuous. There was also a lot to see and of course a lot of photos were taken.
Mr. Tarek Blah is a very nice, funny and competent tour guide, always happy 😊

The Imbros gorge has encouraged us to also walk the Samaria.
A relaxing hike through the Imbros gorge. We were well advised in advance by our guide Sonja of important details on the route. The whole tour was very well planned. Due to the stormy weather, we went to Chora Sfakion after the hike instead of the bathing stay in Fragkostello and were able to visit a church carved into the rock, take a snack, stroll and linger by the sea. The day was very nice.

Very eventful and entertaining day of hiking.
A very nice hike, perfectly organized and very well looked after and explained by our tour guide Claudia.
Also a big compliment to the bus driver, who drove us safely and gracefully through the mountains.
